Cheesecakes and Chocolate Cakes

"Hey dad! Morning!" Said Barbara, to her father Alexander McClintok, at breakfast.

"Morning dear. You returned rather late last night."

"Yeah, I dropped off Pamela and Janet on the way."

"Who's Janet?"

"Oh, she's a new friend dad, Janet Vance is her name."

"Mmm I see, so don't you have school today ?"

"Yeah. I do. I'll go get ready."

Barbara got ready for school, and joined her father at breakfast shortly afterwards.

"So, did mum like France?"

"Haven't asked her, she's still sleeping."

"She must be tired, campaigning all day long."

"I suppose so."

They both sat in complete silence for a while.

"I'll go to school now, bye dad."

"Bye dearie."

Barbara grabbed her backpack and got into her car. Plugging on airpods, she made a call

"Hey Janet."

"Hey Barbara!" Came Janet's voice from the other side

"You coming to school today?"

"Yeah, Just getting ready."

"Well, I'm coming to pick you up."

"Really? Thanks Barbara!"

Barbara disconnected the call, and picked up speed. Very soon, she was in front of Janet's house.
Today she was wearing a casual pinkish white frock, with a white bow for her free, straight shoulder height hair.

"Hi!" She said in a merry voice "Thanks for coming!"

"No Problem."

They reached Cessoria high after 20 minutes

"Are you in tower A or B?"

"B" replied Janet

"Oh! I am in A."

"Mmm, so let's part now. Shall we meet again at lunch?"

"Sure."

"Byee!"

Janet waved and disappeared into tower B. Barbara parked her car and headed into tower A.

She was joined there by her friend Susan Lian. They headed to class together.

There was nothing much to describe about the classes. Mostly the same.

At break too, nothing much happened. Janet was almost gone from the cafeteria, when Barbara had grabbed her hand from behind

"Hey! Would you like to go to a café with me today?"

"Sure."

And now Barbara was standing by her car, backpack and jacket inside. She was standing there for 5 minutes when Janet came running up to her.

"Quick, drive out please! T-theres this g-guy chasing me l-like mad. Good g-god!" Janet panted.

Barbara immediately got into her car and drove out. After sometime, Janet said

"Thanks. This guy was awful, he kept on nagging me. So where are we heading to?"

"We are heading to Pareé café. It has got am adjoining library."

Janet 'mmh'-ed at this.

"You know what this guy's name is?"

Barbara stared forward, but did not reply.

"Jackson Rez."

Barbara suddenly turned her head.

"You mean Joshua's Brother?"

Janet nodded.

"Do not accept any of his confessions they are all fake he is as bad as his brother." Said Barbara, in one breath.

"Don't worry, I did not accept any."

They both sat in complete silence for a minute or two. The Barbara said

"We've reached our destination."

They went inside. Janet slipped her hand into Barbara's. She turned a trifle red, but did not withdraw her hand. A waiter came up

"What would you like to order?"

"An expresso for me."

"A cappuccino." Janet said

"Would you like to try our special Cheesecakes and Chocolate Cakes?" Said the waiter after noting down their orders.

"Sure, make it two each." Barbara replied, after a while of staring at Janet.

"Really!" Said Janet, after the waiter has walked away. Barbara smiled and half waved her hand.

The waiter arrived after a while, with their orders. Then began their everlong chit chat.
In the middle of this, Janet scooped a bit of Cheesecake and Chocolate Cake on her spoon, and edges it towards Barbara.

"Take it."

"What, but why?"

"Please?"

That was enough to make her say yes.

"Ok?" Said Barbara, and laughed.

She looked at Janet while she took the cake from Janet's spoon. After a while
Barbara did the same, and it was accepted after some laughter. At nearly 7 o' clock, Barbara dropped Janet off at her home. Before leaving, Janet hugged Barbara and said

"You're the only one who has ever cared about me. You're my first ever true friend!"

"I'll always be there with you." Replied Barbara.

The. They wished each other 'Good Night' and headed to their respective ways.
