the past 2 weeks, life has been super awkward. for everyone, not just matt and liyah.

matt and liyah refuse to be in the same place anymore, which is really tricky since they have the same group of friends.

liyah has been in a terrible mood, and it's obvious to everyone. even her mom noticed. and it's even more obvious that it was because of matt.

she was constantly reposting "i hate M" or "i miss M" shit on tiktok. anything that had to do with the letter M, she reposted. obviously, alex had seen some of the reposts, and he was definitely not happy about it. he ignored her rare texts and calls for hours, and when he did reply, he never gave a reason as to why he ignored her.

"boy problems?" her mother asked during dinner.

the only time they sat together as a family was cut short. liyah's eyes brimmed with tears and ran up to her room.

"thanks, ma!" ani said sarcastically, running up to check on her sister.

"liyah, can you open the door?" ani asked, trying to open the locked door.

"hold on, alex is calling." she cleared her throat.

"hello?" she answered.

"hi." he breathed. "how are you?"

"fine." she said, "how are you?"

"could be better." he said honestly. "listen, liyah. you know i really love you, right?"

"yeah, i love you too." she answered quickly.

"remember when we first started going out and i asked you if there was anything going on between you and matt? and you said you liked him but it was all over?"

"yeah." she nodded, even though she knew he couldn't see her.

"i need you to be honest with me this time." he said very clearly. "what's going on with you two?"

"nothing." she answered too quick.

"liyah, please don't lie to me."

she heard the hurt in his voice and she wanted to beat herself up for it. she hates the fact that she was the reason why he sounded like that.
