CHAPTER 13
SISTER ADA
Smelly smoke was finally getting further and further away. Hundreds of coughs later and they were eventually back up cruising through the spacious underground dungeon of Ravelin.
Ashes stopped burning their eyes and sweat stopped dripping down their foreheads. One tunnel after another... Rhapsody Throne was proving itself to be an extraordinary flying tool. Up, up and up... Further up... Away from the hot underworld... They could almost smell the fresh forrest... Closer and closer to the surface... They could even feel a little bit of a breeze... Lidia couldn’t wait. What Ada felt remains unknown.
Long minutes later and the Sedgwick house finally greeted them, leaving behind the hammers of the dangerous Firea. Lidia and Ada took a deep breath of long anticipated relief.
Same old fashioned lions stood still on the patriarchal porch... same old magnificent architecture of the traditional mansion... same squeaky shiny hardwood floors... same passé incensed carpet... same aged perfumed maroon drapes... same aged plumbing which functioned on it’s own mind. Same old house giving you the same pleasant feeling of finally returning home.
“Sedgwick house is not much, eh? Not much, but it’s ours... and the house doesn’t want to kill you.” Ada exhaled with relief.
“I think Sedgwick house is more than that, Ada. I think it feels safe and comfortable.” Lidia instinctively smiled to Ada, reading her thoughts and telling her sister what she wanted to hear.
“Yes indeed! I think we should now be proud of ourselves!” Ada groaned.
“I am proud of you! You are the best!” exclaimed Lidia. Ada definitely deserved an excellent treatment after what she did in the Firea volcano.
“I never doubted that... we are back home... time for a break...Let’s see... throne always knows what to do, thank god...” mumbled Ada as Rhapsody Throne positioned itself directly at the exact same spot from where it took off previously. Sapphire lights blinked twice and went off. Golden lights flashed three times and also went off. “Let’s relax.”
Girls sat down in the fluffy armchairs and felt the enormous tension of the past day. Out of the blue long tentacles wrapped around their arms and legs, rubbing them, massaging them, creating an intense relaxation.
Lidia closed her eyes too afraid to watch who or what was massaging her body. Never before she had an actual massage and with every pleasant pressure her brain let go... let go... over and over again. Nothing mattered anymore. The only thing remains - THE MASSAGE. She could hear her sister moaned once in a while in the armchair somewhere in the far universe... or in the same room.
An hour later Ada and Lidia remained in the same arm chairs, laying still, staring at the bright star lit ceiling.
“Wow! Why didn’t you show me those chairs before?” Lidia was first to interrupt silence.
“Because I knew you would be all over them and I din’t think you would approve magic.” Ada was honest.
Minutes passed.
“Sorry I pushed you, and I am really sorry our trip was such a disaster!” exclaimed Lidia.
“I wouldn’t say that.” Ada climbed out of the armchair and carefully opened her palm. “I think this should belong to you!” she gave herself a proud chuckle.
There was a simple horse bridle, but Ada’s smile told Lidia there was so much more to that. Finally! Finally Lidia was getting results of all that physiological work she did in Ravelin. It was so, so hard because the hardest part was done subconsciously.
“Lid, take this bridle and ride the lion. I think you will manage it without burning your hair on your head.” Ada put the horse bridle on the table. “Lid, I sincerely love you deep in my heart as you are my sister... and this statement is long overdue.”
“I love you too.” Hick-upped Lidia.
“Lid, I have something else to tell you... I have never been completely open with you...” Ada was definitely forcing words out of her mouth.
“Yes, it was a tough day.” said Lidia.
“Incredibly tough! But I am not talking about just one day... Lid, I promise I will do my best to only be a good sister to you from now on... I promise!” Ada again sounded sincere.
Lidia felt a tear was crawling out of the corner of her eye.
My dear reader, please excuse Lidia and Ada. They were just having a perception through their senses, through their acute mental and emotional senses.
“Yes, yes, I know!” whispered Lidia. My dear reader, this experience came after a long, very long and tense day.
“Sisters then?’ asked lady Ada.
“Yes, of course... of course... we are sisters... not exactly... we are only half sisters, Ada... and being a full sister means so much more...” Lidia took a very deep breath. Ada did not interrupt.
“...but what you telling me... makes me very emotional... may be even too emotional and I am not used to that... yet... there is not that much difference between me and you.... No, no!” Lidia frowned and covered her mouth. “I can’t do it. I can’t cry! I don’t want to cry! I can’t allow myself to cry! No! No No!”
Ada went numb. Seeing Lidia actually emotionally made her go numb. She could not handle it.... and what she couldn’t handle turned her angry. Which she hid.
“... and I am also already crying...” she frowned.
“Ada, I do not think I can do it any more... not without your full support!”
Ada sat down next to Lidia and chuckled sadly.
“Yes, you can, and of course you have my full support, my sister! You see, there is only slight difference between me and you. The difference is that... I clearly know who and what I am! You, on the other hand is still searching! Because you are still so young. Don’t argue. I am an older sister and I know. This search will stop once you realize who and what you are, that’s all.”
“Really? That simple? You promise?” smiled Lidia.
“Yes, that simple. I promise.” smiled Ada.
Millions of emotion fueled thoughts rushed through their minds... Anger... Misunderstanding... Anger again fueled by tens of explanations... Explanations not heard... Misunderstanding... then Lidia and Ada both she took an extreeeeeemely loooong breath... and that little exercise alone was able to stop all of the bad thoughts. For right now. Because Lidia and Ada were both growing.
My dear reader, I think that we all grow in the life-time, we all change. Our bodies change. Our minds change. It is a matter of fact. So the question remains - are we changing in the same direction or are we drifting apart?
Lidia loved sister because she was extremely happy to gain a sister. Today although was a first day she started to alienate a meaning of ‘sister’ and meaning ‘trust’. Before those two words were permanently engraved in her soul and mind. If a person was her sister, that meant complete and utter respect and trust... but sixth sense kept doing it’s subconscious work.
“Really? That simple?” whispered Lidia.
“Yes, that simple.” smiled Ada.
