"You should learn when to keep your mouth shut," Miguel muttered, his eyes narrowing into something darker as he locked gazes with her. His claws scraped lightly against the floor, making the air hum with barely contained energy.
Callisto met his stare head-on, not backing down in the slightest. "You can't intimidate me, Miguel," she said with a cocky tilt of her head. "I'm not some rookie you can push around."
The challenge in her voice hung between them, electric and sharp. Miguel's expression flickered with something deep—jealousy, anger, maybe even something more—but he didn't say a word.
Before anyone else could intervene, Callisto turned on her heel, heading toward the teleport pad. "I'm done with this," she muttered under her breath. "I'm not staying here to be lectured like a child."
Jessica called after her, her voice rising. "Callisto! Don't you dare—"
But it was too late. Callisto was already stepping into the teleportation circle, the machine activating as she disappeared into the swirling light.
As soon as the teleportation beam hit, she found herself in the disorienting swirl of the multiverse. The ever-familiar vertigo made her stomach lurch, but she ignored it. She wasn't thinking about the dizzying chaos of hopping dimensions—she was thinking about how pissed off she was and how stuck she felt. She didn't even know where she was. She barely had time to register the dimensional shift before her feet landed on solid ground.
She blinked, taking in her surroundings. It was a quiet, unfamiliar city, but the air was heavy with the unmistakable hum of Spider energy.
She couldn't let herself stay here. She needed to get back—back to her Earth, where she wasn't tangled in this mess. The memories of her argument with Miguel still echoed in her mind. The way he had looked at her when she mentioned Peter B. The possessiveness in his voice. The jealousy that had rolled off him in waves.
But then... the question lingered: What had really happened during her canon event? And why was Miguel so upset every time she even brought it up?
She needed answers.
And maybe... just maybe... she needed to get away from this Spider-Gang.
But her temper wasn't done with her yet. As she stormed down the street, the familiar whoosh of a portal opening behind her caught her off guard. The next thing she knew, Jessica was standing in front of her, arms crossed and lips pressed into a thin line.
"Not so fast," Jessica said with a mixture of concern and frustration.
Before she could respond, Gwen, Miles, and Hobie appeared from the shadows, all looking at her with varying levels of exasperation. Miguel's silhouette appeared last, and the weight of his stare sent a shiver down her spine.
"Callisto," Miguel said, his voice low and sharp as he stepped forward, his usual calm now replaced with a quiet storm. "You can't keep running away."
She straightened, unwilling to back down. "And you can't keep controlling me."
"I'm not controlling you," he snapped, his gaze flicking between the others in the room. "I'm protecting you."
The words hung in the air like a challenge, and Callisto found herself meeting his gaze head-on. She didn't know what had happened, but whatever it was, it wasn't going to stay buried.
The air was thick with tension, each Spider-hero watching her carefully. But instead of confronting her with more accusations, Jessica stepped closer, her voice softer now. "Look, Callisto, we're just trying to help you. We know you're frustrated. You've been through a lot..."
