"The base is set and you are good to go, gentlemen." Informed Jango Dregimate, base BQ-9's best mission control pilot ever.
"Thanks Jango." Said Gragon, the co-pilot of the colonization ship Airgo-col-8.
"You got the throttle?" I asked Gragon. I myself, am the other pilot of Airgo-col-8. My name is Ark Disox and I've been a colonization pilot for 5 years. I helped man touch the surface of Barlmire, a planet which had a molten gold core which made BQ-9 the richest base of the Planetary Col Organization.
Today Gragon and I had another planet to observe called A-22-BQ a planet left alone due to its magnetic clouds which could mess with signals and cause minor technical problems. But with our knowledge of the clouds we were able to build a shield against these disturbances.
I was ready for some exploring.
"Yup, I got it. Syncto Nuclear pulse ready and primed," Said Gragon who was pushing buttons and turning knobs," Flux drawlger spinning in sync with our hyper-sphere. And one small milkshake. Let's do this."
Gragon slowly put pressure on our thermo-atomic engine which used explosive heat as energy. Our ship lurched forwards toward the hover-way.
"Easy does it" he said as he put the
airgo to lift speed.
We zoomed out of the base and were off to A-22-BQ.
"Now, we could take a 5 year long journey at 1000m/h or a half hour trip at double light speed. Your choice" Gragon asked
"I feel like making it back to the base before the 24th century... So I'd like double light speed, thanks." I answered
"Just asking." He responded as he through the engine into the highest possible speed, double light speed. This was so fast, cameras, eyes or any tech at all can't see you, except for Buruha's. A tiger-like creature that can see everything it looks at, no matter what speed or brightness. These animals are evolved to hunt, as they are the most dangerous animal every found.
The flight to A-22-BQ was smooth and quick. There are 5 planets in that solar system. A-22-BQ: An unexplored planet, A-23-BQ:A planet which holds the most species' of insects on one planet at 1,895,673 different types of bugs in a one square km region. There is a planet which reaches temperatures as cold as -6000 degrees Celsius, a planet which has trees that seep liquid plastic and one other planet which is larger than the Earths sun. It is a very interesting place.
Gragon and I were nearing closer to A-22-BQ as the lights started flickering.
"Your better turn on the shields." I told Gragon.
"Yup, I've got it." He responded." So, what should we call this planet? How about Gragonite? Or Gragopolis? Or even... Gragsbourhg! Yes, I like that."
"You're stupid. Hmm... How about Blaqrif?" I mused
"Black rift? What kinda name is that?" Gragon questioned
"No, not black rift. Blaqrif. B-L-A-Q-R-I-F. I think it sounds a bit better than 'Gragsbourhg'." I said
Gragon pondered the idea then spoke
"Yeah, that could work."
The ship started to shake.
"Ope, we are entering the atmosphere. Hang on to your hats!" Gragon joked.
I sat in my pilot chair and my hands went to work, pressing buttons and flipping switches, keeping the ship in a smooth descent. The gages went wild and our speedometer flipped out, showing insane readings.
"The shields must not be working!" Gragon said as he kept activating the sheilds, but to no avail.
"We are going to lose control!" I yelled as the ship quickly gained momentum towards the ground.
The ship was slowly breaking, the dashboard sparked, the gages were spinning non-stop and the pressure inside the ship was rising.
"Ark, lets go to the escape pod! We can easily use that as a safe way out!"
"You go! I've got to try to steady this!"
"Ark, you're being stupid! There is no way we're getting our of this alive if we stay here! Now let's go!"
"There's got to be a way. If this ship goes down, I'll go down too trying to save it from complete destruction. If this ship doesn't completely blow up from this drop, you'll still be able to survive from what's salvageable. You go. I've got a ship to save."
Gragon looked horrified and thankful at the same time.
"If this is what you want to be remembered as, I will let people know of your bravery." The ship violently jerked towards the side of a cliff knocking out a wall. Chilling winds rushed into the pilots quarters. "Good luck, and thank you!"
Gragon struggled to the door towards the pod. He climbed in and gave me one last look through the small circular window. The pod shot into the centre of the ship in a padded locking area, the safest place on the ship.
I felt lonely, taking full responsibility for the crashing of the ship Airgo-col-8. I pressed buttons like a mad-man; steadying weight levels and distributing the thrust points. The gaping hole in the ship made me nervous. The ship was in pieces, the clouds blocked radio signals and the total time until a search vessel would be sent from base BQ-9 is 58 days.
No matter how hard I tried to steady the ship, it kept falling. It was hopeless, I would die in a fiery explosion and Gragon would have to survive on his own for 8 weeks. I was thinking of retreating into the escape pod when a massive mountain top, thin and tall like a blade popped into view, previously hidden by a veil of clouds. I stared in awe as it hit the middle of the ship, cutting us in half. The back of the ship with Gragon and the pod fell into an ocean. 'THE SHIP DOESN'T FLOAT!' I thought to myself. Gragon would die drowning, slow and painfully, not the death he derserved. But I had to worry about myself. My half of the Airgo was careening at the ground, the mountain had stopped some of my momentum and the crash wasn't as bad as it could have been. My chair dislodged from the floor and flew out the gaping whole in the wall. I was screaming, eyes shut, reading to die until I landed, back first in sand. The seatbelt kept me from having whiplash and the comfortable seat cushioned me slamming into the soft sand. I was lucky. I got out of my seat, shaking. How did I make it out alive? I must have been the most fortunate person ever born. I kept thinking that until a heard a huge explosion off to the right in a thick forest. I was facing a bright blue ocean, standing on shining yellow sand. The two suns of the solar system were peaked at the top of the blade mountain which had both saved my life and doomed Gragons. I felt lightheaded... And fainted
