"Is that Richard Bowen!?" Carlos whisper-shouts, as he and Maddox laugh.

"Bowen," I beam, while a little cornered as he finally settles in.

"Happy Birthday!" He grins, arms out in showcase.

"Guys!" I admire, glancing between the screen and my boyfriend, then realization dawns on me, so I quickly open my door to make sure that I did not wake my mother or Mr. Mazzara.

Without even re-closing the door behind me, I eagerly scooped up my phone and then ran into my boyfriend's arms, where we laughed as he twirled me in the hug.

"I'm dizzy," Carlos jests, in a tone that matches his words, since the screen spun in my hands.

"I love you guys!" I beam, features soft as my heart flutters, feeling extremely loved.

As my friends shouted it back, I pulled away slightly to capture Ricky's lips in a gentle kiss; we both smile into it.

"I think that's our cue." Maddox points out as the kiss becomes more passionate.

"Ugh," Carlos playfully scolds, though grinning, "No respect!"

We laugh upon pulling away, and as Ricky sets me to the ground, he grabs my phone at the same time, "Okay, bye!"

"I love you guys!" I beam, attempting to snatch the device.

My friends playfully protested as Ricky dismissed them and playfully held it back, even as I kept jumping up and reaching out. We laughed as he turned over and held the phone higher, so I continued jumping in an attempt to grab it.

"See you tomorrow!" I blurt as Ricky hangs up.

"Oops," He shrugs while turning to face me, "Lost connection." He jests.

I playfully roll my eyes, snatching my phone as he holds it out, to discard it on my bed, "You're mean!" I tease.

"Can you blame me? I want the birthday girl all to myself." His teasing yet sincere tone made butterflies fill my stomach as he kisses my cheek.

"Hmm," My hum of satisfaction became intertwined with a gentle moan that prolonged it, while smiling with my eyes shut, basking in pleasure as his mouth went lower with gentle kisses littered on my neck, and his large hands pulled me in closer by my waist.

I was ambushed by a few of my favorite people, then showered with affection by my boyfriend in a matter of seconds; it already feels like the most wonderful year yet. I was in such a state of bliss that I completely forgot that I left my door wide open....until the old floorboard creaked in the hallway.

My eyes widen as shock crosses my face. Ricky had a similar reaction, with horror shadowing his features.

"No.." I quietly panic upon hearing the door to my mother's room—straight across the hall— practically slam, "Please tell me it's not.."

As if frozen, his wide-eyed gaze never left the hallway, "It's not your mom." He assures.

My eyes widen, "Oh, I know. If it was my mom, she would've been like "Blanche Avery!" Then killed you, then me!!" I quietly rant, anxiously as my breathing picks up.

"I made, like, direct eye contact with Mr. Mazzara, who just walked upstairs." Ricky blurts, stunned.

I squeeze my eyes shut in disgust, "...while kissing my neck."

"Holy shit." in defeat, shuddering at the memory.

"Shit!!" I repeat, tossing my head down onto his chest. Ricky sighs, gently caressing my back.
