Terror.
It was as a if heavy weight pressed against her chest, fear that grew into panic, grew into steady spouts. It was numbing, paralyzing horror that kept her from moving, kept her from breathing. The darkness collapsed on her, easing into every bit of her eyes, closed up her airways, irrational fear bit at the edges of her sanity.
She knew. She could feel that there wasn't much room, but she kept her hands close by her sides, because if she didn't feel how closed off she was, how trapped she was, she could fend off the pure fit of hysterics that was crawling its way up her throat. Tears seeped from the corners of her eyes, caressing her cheeks as if to comfort her.
Blinding lights burst on, flooding the room in a great rays, a gasp flew from her mouth. Comprehension, colorful and tasteful attack her mind, her eyes squeezed closed. The fear was lethal, potent, it tumbled into her, until nothing was left, but the fact that she locked in a glass coffin.
Her eyes flashed wild and crazed across the room, the details fuzzed in her mind, the walls were white similar to a hospital room, the floor dark, no windows accompanied the walls, expect one wood door stained white. Her eyes focused on two cameras in the corners of the room and an intercom on the ceiling right above her.
A scream ripped from her throat when an alarm pierced the room, it was a long continuous wail, anguish and sorrow resonated in the sound, as if it was grieving the death of somebody. Her heart thundered in beat to the awful sound, her hands coming up to close around her ears. Slowly, teasingly it increased in volume until her ears rung with the cry of it.
"Turn it off!" The words flew from her mouth in a cry, her eyes screwed tightly together.
The wailing continued, until something snapped inside of her, it was like a wall tumbled inside of her mind and all the panic that tumbled around inside finally rushed free. A scream wrenched from her, it screeched in her ears, tore at her throat, until she was wailing along with the siren. Her fists beat against the glass, smashing into it with all of her strength, a thump every time her fists connected with the top.
Then instantly with a resound crack the piercing sound stopped, stunned silence rang in the room, her breathing came in quick pants, tears creeping from her eyes.
A cry escaped her mouth when static crackled over the intercom, her whisper, strangled and broken, teased her lips, "What is this?"
A voice, deep and rough, amusement smirking in the melody of it, rushed over the intercom, "Good morning everyone, I bet your all wondering what is happening to you and where you are, and what is going on, yes? Well the answer to your question is that you are part of my game, each and everyone of you. Over a million people are watching you online, watch as you struggle for your life, for you to escape, there are twenty of you and this is round one. Each and every one of you are entrapped in some kind of coffin, on the top panel you will find some kind of riddle or pattern in which you need to unlock, before time runs out. Good luck!"
Blue lights lit up the top panel and she watched as images became visible. Her body jerked when a loud slapping sound racketed through the box, a small hole about as big as her fist opened on the side panel near her waist. Curiosity filled her body, wormed its way into her brain, as her hand passed over it. A gurgling reared in her ears before water splashed from the hole and into the coffin.
Intense fear swept over her mind, "No, no, no, no!" She screamed, her voice cracking.
Is was an all consuming fear that ate away at her mind, bit at her sanity, her hand went against the whole, but the water sprayed in, panic caught her scream, choked her, bruised her.
"Let me out!" she sobbed, a cry breaking free, her breathing coming in fast strokes, puffing out.
She barely heard the cracked of the voice over the intercom as water rushed in, touching her skin soaking her clothes, the panic laid on her tongue, she could taste her own fear, it was stale and sour.
"Davina, are you giving up already?" Amusement rung in the voice, the words were almost growled.
Davina's interest perked at the voice, anger rushed through her, he had to be a big man, maybe six feet or so to have such a rough voice, but it wasn't complete science. "Who are you, how do you know my name?"
"Davina, my dear, I know just about everything about you, your full name is Davnia Riley Ellis, your fifteen years old, and you have a traumatizing fear of water." A laugh blurted from the intercom, silence hung for a full minute. "It's time to play the game Davina, its time to start."
The water splashed against her skin, stinging her, burning her, a sob broke from her mouth. Her breathing was rushed and heavy, her heart strumming inside of her head, she could feel the rushed beats tapping against her throat. The water touched the back of her head, every time she let it rest, puffs of air rushed from between her lips.
Then silence rang in her ears, a peace ran over her skin, goose bumps rose on her skin, her breathing slowed. Eyes closed and she shut down all the sound, of the rushing water, the sound of crackling.
It was time to start.
