Atarians Origins

(AN: I know that I am supposed to be making another fanfic, and working on my 100 fanfic, however, my mom had this crazy dream, and I wanted to make it into a story, because I thought it was interesting, however, I might need some help filling in some gaps, and to make this story more enjoyable, however, I will not always follow what you guys suggest if you make any, but I will consider them.) 

DNA, also known as deoxyribonucleic acids, are the materials, and instructions that make us who we are. It is said that humans share 99.6% of their DNA, however, the other 0.4% of DNA is fair game, and in some circumstances in that 0.4% of DNA has a special gene, this special gene allows humans to become something special, something out of a fairytale. That strand of DNA connects them to the ocean and water, the substance that takes up 71% of our Earth. The sea hypnotizes them, calls to them, and drags them into the sea, never to be seen again by any human.

Some say they died, swallowed by the sea to be killed by the monsters in it, however, legends say that these humans that the sea has swallowed have been blessed by Atargatis, the goddess of the moon, also known as the first mermaid. It is said that she had blessed children of humans to carry a gene that allows them when coming into contact with an artifact, a pearl, powered by Atargatis herself to activate the gene to transform said human into a merperson.

These humans were known as the 'Atarians' It is said, even as humans the Atarians possessed minor abilities, such as being able to see and breathe under the ocean water, but their most important gift is having a deep connection to the ocean, almost as if the ocean had a heartbeat, the waves crashing, like an exhale from the mighty sea against the shore of land. Another ability they possess is an allure that causes that makes the Atarians' disappearance less public.

The Atarians are described as the common mermaid, having the upper body of a human, but from the waist down to the tail of a fish, however, what people don't realize is the eyes of an Atarian young are different from an "elder Atarian". "Elder Atarians" have a beautiful pair of ocean blue cerulean eyes, while young Atarians, also known as guppies, have sea foam blueish green eyes, the longer the Atarians have awakened their tail, the more vibrant their eyes turn.

Atarians are called to the ocean starting as a small buzz in the back of their mind at the age of 10, noticeable, but not too distracting it progresses slowly Atarians hear the full call at the age of 18. You might be wondering what about school? The authorities? Not all Atarians stay transformed, they may have to stay in their mermaid form for a year, some switch into their human form to help others through the transformation, and finish school, they also help "convince" the parent to not go public about missing their child, it kinda mists over the disappearance of their child/family member/friend, so that it does not expose the Atarians.

Atarians fully become mermaids after their first 3 years of being transformed, but if you change back into a human, they stay an Atarian, because when they become a full mermaid they lose the ability to turn into a human. When that happens, their family, friends, and other relationships get their minds wiped from having that relationship with the now mermaid.

(Help me name the Atarains, I couldn't think of a good name, and I don't exactly know if I like the backstory and everything in this chapter, but I had to put something, please help with comments.)
