Today, I had plans to clean my house and get caught up on little things. But, leave it up to Charlie, my best friend to burst my bubble.
"Come on! You know you want to go!" She jumped on the counter beside the sink where I was washing our dishes.
"No, really I just want to get our house cleaned up. Plus, I don't know any of those guys it would be so awkward," I said rinsing a cup and putting it in the drainer.
"You know us, and I know them. Quit being on house arrest, you need to get your ass out instead of trying to stay home with Mr Clean," Jensen backed her up jumping on the other side of the sink with a bag full of chips, stuffing his mouth.
Jensen was Charlie's boyfriend of forever. He was like a brother to me. But dear god, if they ever broke up, I can't say I wouldn't see what all he's got hidden under those clothes. So, now I was sandwiched between the two of them while I was washing the dishes.
"No, you guys go - get outta my hair and let me just clean the house get things put away."
They were trying to convince me to go to a 'tour send off get together' at Jensens best friends house. His best friend was the lead vocalist of one my favorite bands. But I had yet to be in the same room as them. Charlie has been around forever so they weren't star striking her anymore either.
"Come on, you're such an old lady, why stay home and cleaaaaannn, when you can be a groupie tonight?" Charlie stressed the word clean mocking me.
"You seriously need to get laid, you're grouchy lately. Are you just permanently on PmS?" Jensen said while eating his chips still.
I was trying to ignore them. And then someone's phone was going off, so I dried my hands and went to the laundry room.
"Dude! What's up?" Jensen said into his phone. Charlie followed me to the laundry room, I was folding a load and stacking it on the dryer.
"Please! Come on! I know you're dying to meet them, they are so cool. It's just gonna be us and a few of the crew getting things ready to send them on tour, this is like a two month run for them." She was trying so hard to convince me to go. It was exciting to consider, I did love the band so much. But I would probably end up being star struck like I was 16. But here I was 30 years old, maybe I wouldn't.
"This is her," Jensen barged in the room with his phone on FaceTime. Oh my gosh, it was the singer Matt from the band facing me.
"Hey Lana... you really should come over tonight and see us off, we have so much food and booze it would mean a lot to me, it would mean a lot to all of us," he was saying into the video at me while Jensen held it facing me. I couldn't help but blush he was talking to me????
I was in shock he put me on the spot I'm gonna kill him.
I didn't know what to say, "okay cool so we'll see you tonight with Jensen and Charlie? Cool?" He was being sweet. Ugh. He could tell I wasn't on board. I never said a word...
"Yep okay great! Looking forward to meeting you in a little bit!" Then he ended the call himself.
"I'm gonna kill you," I looked at Jensen. "No you're not,..is that a thong?" He came over to where I was folding clothes and tried to grab my lace panties from me.
"No it is not a thong!" I snatched from him.
"Charlie muzzle your mutt,"
"I love him! He's got you going tonight !"
She hugged me.
"I never agreed" I said picking up my laundry and walking out the room.
"You're going! And wear that thong!" Jensen yelled after me. "You may get laid!"
—
With much excited hesitation, I opened the backseat car door. Jens and Charlie acted right at home walking up the sidewalk to Matt's house in a fancy subdivision where all the homes resembled monopoly. There were several cars parked but no so many that you felt lost. It seemed like a small intimate gathering.
We made it to the side garage door, and Jens just opened the door and let us girls walk in first. He winked at me, assuring me it's all good.
"Bout damn time you got here!" I immediately recognized Matt at the refrigerator putting beer inside. He was hot dressed in black shirt and black jeans.
"You must be the Lana, so glad you came, we're gonna have a good time," he pulled me into a hug. Okay fan girl moment.
There were a few guys playing video games on the couch hollering at each other with laughter. There was food laying all around pizzas, chips, fruits, cups, plates.
"Well, thanks for having me too," I said like an idiot. He was still knelt at the fridge when he r handed a beer to me after popping the top off. "Thank you,"I shyly said.
"You're welcome," he smiled back.
Jensen and Charlie were in the living room now on the couch with everyone else.
"Can I do anything to help?" I offered.
"No, it's all good. Make yourself at home," he was breaking boxes down. So I made myself over to the one vacant couch that was not occupied by rockstars.
"Guys this is Lana, my roommate and best friend since we were like 10," Charlie introduced me to the room. "She's a huge fan girl," Jensen interrupted. He's got such a big comical mouth. I shot him an evil look when I sipped my beer bottle. "What?" He mouthed shrugging as Charlie slapped his arm. There were two guys on the couch one had a black ball cap on backwards and was in shorts and a T shirt but his arms had tattoos and he had black stud earrings on. I recognized him as the guitar player. The other one was the drummer he was in a tank top, gym shorts and his blonde dyed hair feathered back.
"What's up I'm Maddy," the blonde threw his head back. I smiled at him, but my eyes fell hard on that guitar player who was screaming at his character on the tv mounted above the fireplace. "Hold up! Man fuck you!" He was beating the controller with his fingers trying to win a battle it seemed. He shot a quick glance my way, clearly too involved to say hello. "You son of a mother fucking bitch, I hope you die in your sleep tonight," he fell back on the couch back defeated. I couldn't help but chuckle. He glanced my way again. "Your mama," Maddy shot back and leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, before the guitar player could tackle him, he took off across the back of the couch. I laughed at their bantering. The guitar player was now half sprawled across the couch, "I'm Lanse, sorry about that, he's an asshole," he finally introduced himself. I just smiled at him and shook my head. "I think it's cute... flirting with each other," I challenged a comeback. He seemed fun enough.
"Let's flirt with you instead!" Maddy jumped from behind me and landed on the couch beside me and scared me.
"She's a lot hotter than you are, sorry," Maddy threw a starburst at Lanse.
"Duuuude," Lanse sighed.
"So what do you do Lana?" Maddy asked me as he was making himself relaxed on the couch beside me. Okay these heavy metal rockstars are very playful not what I'm use to seeing on YouTube.
"I'm a hairdresser part time, part time photographer," I said still shyly. I watched Lanse sprawled across the couch scrolling on his phone. Maddy was eating his starburst
"She is multi talented," Jensen chimed in with his eyebrows raised, Charlie slapped his arm.
"Would you knock it off," she poked him. There was never a serious moment with Jensen.
"Look anything you want to know about Lana, ask me cause she won't tell you shit!" He said jumping up to head towards the kitchen, passing by me he patted my knees like a good big brother.
"Sooo.... how's the bakery?" Out of the blue Lanse, still scrolling his phone spoke up without looking up. "Business is great, especially now during the summer, a lot of weddings and such so doing wedding cakes is keeping me busy," Charlie said.
"Did you not bring anything for us, I mean we are about tobe gone for two weeks..."Lanse then sat up and put his phone in his black shorts pocket. He seemed playful.
"You know I absolutely have a cake in the cooler not frosted yet, I could run over and frost it and bring it over here,"
"Hey Matt, did Stacey get any desserts, I have a cake I can go get real quick,?" Charlie sat up and yelled towards the kitchen to Matt.
"She did... but she got damn fruit and shit, please please please go get your cake and double up on the icing!" He came around the corner and pleaded with her.
"I can go get it," I sat up volunteering wanting to kind of have an excuse to not be social, I wasn't the most outgoing person. Granted, I was so excited to be here around my favorite band, but getting over heartbreak, I wasn't in the most social mood.
"Nu uh, you ain't driving my car," Jensen butted in coming to sit back beside Charlie on the couch with a beer bottle for her and one for him.
"Oh come on it's like a 15 minute drive to the bakery," I said.
"Have you seen the dent in your car?" He sent a look across the room at me.
"That wasn't my fault"
"And it won't be your fault in my car either, Lanse give her your keys,"
Just then, Lanse just stood up, put both his hands in his pocket, "I am all for getting one of Charlie's cakes, let's go, I'll drive," he looked at me. Are you serious right now? Did he just say "let's go," offering to to give me a ride.
"Lana, there's two cakes, in the cooler that don't have icing on them, pick one of those and you know where the frosting is," Charlie said sipping her beer bottle. And she gave me this big eyed smile. Okay so I guess I'm riding with this hot guy to frost a cake.
