Chasing Adley

Chapter 1

It was Friday and we can finally go home after a long and stressing weekdays. After the busy days ah, finally.

"See you on Monday, huwag mo akong mamiss!" Grella laughed before she pushed me inside Adley's car.

"Hi, love! How's your day?" tanong ko and I was about to hug him when he glared me, hindi ko na lang itinuloy. Galit na naman eh.

"It's still a day, what do you think it is? Don't call me love, you're so stubborn, really." he almost rolled his eyes.

I just rolled my eyes, ang sungit-sungit kahit kailan! This man is my childhood friend, we're always together until now. Well we are neighbors, typically normal story. Our parents said, kulang na lang daw ay magpalit kami ng mukha. Uhuh, indeed true.

"When we're home, I'm gonna teach you in Mathematics. I heard that it's your lowest grades." he said.

"Kanino mo nalaman?" tanong ko.

Ang tsismoso niya ha! Hindi bagay.

"You don't need to know. What important is, you should learn." kung hindi lang siya nagd'drive ay siguradong pinitik niya na naman ang noo ko.

I made a face, "I am learning naman kaso hindi ko talaga magets eh! Kapag kasi numbers sumasakit talaga ang ulo ko like er, bakit kasi may mga letters pang involved!" reklamo ko.

"You may want it or not, I'm going to teach you later." he said.

"Why not tomorrow? Saturday naman." I suggested. We can have the whole day bukas, I can stay with him longer.

"Aalis ako with someone." sagot niya.

"With whom?" I asked. Mamaya kasi niyan, magdidate pala siya with other girl! Hindi ako papayag, ayoko.

"With Charlie." he answered after a couple of seconds. "For now, sleep because it's still a long drive." he told me so I did.

I just woke up when I felt a finger poking my cheek and calling my name. When I opened my eyes, my heart beats fast because Adley is only an inch close away from me. Gosh, kagigising ko lang eh!

"We're here." he muttered so I went outside the car immediately.

What the hell? Why so close eh manggigising lang naman? He made my heart beats faster. The nerves!

Because we're only neighbors, sa bahay muna ako nila pumasok. Baka nandito sina Mama and Papa. I'm referring to his parents. Oh well, we're neighbors. Ever since I was a kid, nandito ako palagi so nagagaya ko ang pagtawag ni Leigh sa kanila.

And there they are at the living room, holding a cup of coffee while talking to each other.

"Ma, Pa!" I called their attention so they looked at me and as usual, they welcomed me with a warming smile.

I ran towards them and hug the two of them. "I missed you both." I said.

"Ito naman, weekly kaming namimiss!" biro ni Mama.

Papa laughed before looking at my back. Well, I know Adley's there. As usual, hindi man lang magbless o yumakap. Walang manners!

I put my bag on the couch and I was about to sit behind Mama and Papa but Leigh stopped me.

"You should go home first and change your clothes. I told you I'm going to teach you." he said using his baritone voice.

"Mabilis lang naman tayo 'di ba? I don't bother changing." sagot ko.

He arched a brow, as if he's challenging me. Patigasan ng ulo.

"Alora, change." he said, glaring at me.

"No, I don't want to," I crossed my arms.

"Go and change." he glared me more so I rolled my eyes before standing.

Fine, siya na ang nanalo!

When I went home, wala pa si Mom and Dad kaya dumiretso na lang ako to my room so I can take a bath quicky. Nagbihis lang ako ng denim skirt and I tucked it in with my plain black shirt before going.

"Madali lang naman pala pero bakit kapag 'yung Prof namin, ang hirap tapos sumasakit pa ang ulo ko?" I told him after a long session of teaching me.

He glared at me and throw a crumbled paper to my face.

"It's just that you don't listen." he said.

"Nakikinig ako!" I stucked out my tongue.

He just sighed before telling me na we should go downstairs to eat dinner. Well, hindi na 'ko magmamatigas pa dahil nagutom ako sa mga pesteng numbers and besides, it's already eight.

"I cooked your favorite, love!" Mama told me.

Oh my gosh, my beloved adobong chicken!

Natawa si Papa. "Namiss mo, ano? Nabanggit ba naman sa 'kin ni Leigh na you always eat noodles at your condo. Alam ng Mama mo na miss mo na ang lutong bahay." he laughed again.

"Sumbungero." I glared at him and pouted.

"What? I'm just telling them what you're eating sometimes." he explained.

"What do you mean sometimes?"

"You only eat once a day because you're so stubborn. Look at your body, you're skinny." he looked at me from head to foot before shooking his head, disappointed.

"Are you blind or what? I'm sexy kaya!" I almost stamp my feet on the floor.

"Tama na ang away, let's eat already." Mama said.

After eating dinner, I helped her to wash plates and we shared a bond before going home. Pinasamahan ako nila Mama kay Leigh sa labas to make sure na safe raw ako.

"It's late, you should sleep." he told me.

"Yeah, ikaw rin." sabi ko but he just ignored me as he left.

I sighed before entering our house. I felt lonely again, wala pa si Mom and Dad. All my life, ganito naman ang routine. Well, sanay na rin naman ako.

I entered my room and change for my paired pajamas before jumping to bed. I took my phone and open my instagram.

I saw my sister online kaya kumunot ang noo ko. Uhuh, ngayon ko lang naaalala. Bakit wala siya sa bahay?

I messaged her.

meanalora: Hey, bakit hindi ka umuwi? Uuwi ka ba ngayon?

stella_agustin: paki mo ate bukas pa ko uuwi kasi im hanging out with friends.

I rolled my eyes. This brat! Mali na nga ang constructions ng sentence, ang attitude pa!

I just decided to watch some reels on instagram. After a long time of watching, I decided to turn off my internet but I saw Stella's message.

stella_agustin: hoy nandito si kuya leigh umiinom w/ friends

I felt a pang on my chest. Oh damn, what a lonely night.
