Jaune's life wasn't easy. The news of his fake transcripts made everyone turn on him. The people he thought he could trust abandoned him. His family disowned him. They either hurt him or turned a blind eye to his torment. Jaune was soon expelled. Ho...
"I didn't want to believe it, but it seems to be a case of magical degradation."
"Magical degradation?" Leonardo asked.
"As you all know, I reincarnate into a new body. For each reincarnation, I start off with my magic. However, as I reincarnated, I noticed my magical reserves slightly degrade, hence the term."
"Seeing this, I split off my magic into what were bird transformations and the seasonal maidens. Upon death, they would go to a new host before they grew less in power or were gone completely."
The rest were surprised to hear this.
"Seems I was not so fortunate this time.
"Why didn't you ever tell us?" James asked.
"Forgive me. The seasonal maidens' magic lasted for quite some time, so I thought the magic would never run out. *SIGH* How wrong I was."
He looked at his constituents.
"I apologize for lacking the foresight of not seeing the danger this posed, especially in battle. I thought it would last longer. Seems I was wrong."
"It's alright. So, what happens now?" Qrow asked.
"If magic cannot be relied upon, then we'll just have to switch to technology," Ozpin replied.
"James. How is Atlas's research and development?"
James had a stoic expression.
"I am pleased to say that we have made great strides."
[A Week Later]
[Path to Mt. Kai]
Jaune, clad in his Gu Prison Breakout attire, a pair of black sunglasses, and a golden ring adorned with black jewels, is standing before a waterfall. He walks through the rushing stream, only to find a secret passage on the other side. He walks forward, but from the stony walls, bulky golems emerge. They walk toward Jaune. In seconds, they were cut to pieces. In seconds, they fade into nothing.
He continues walking down the cavern. As he kept walking, a pack of white wolves with fire dust crystals appeared before him. They charged at him but were suddenly cut to ribbons. The remains soon disappear.
Jaune kept moving with the cavern becoming darker and darker. Soon, it was pitch-black, not even a speck of light shined through the crevices.
In the dark, something slithered to Jaune. He snorted.
*SLASH!*
*SLASH!*
*SLASH!*
*SLASH!*
*SLASH!*
*SLASH!*
After minutes, he found himself outside near a flight of stairs carved into the mountain. The misty air clouded one's vision, making it possible to slip and fall to one's doom. From behind, a serpent lunged at Jaune, only for it to be cut in two. Soon, it disappeared into nothing.
Jaune walked alongside the mountain. As he moved, he started to hear the distinct sound of buzzing in the air. In time, giant flying monstrous insects descended from the mist. They had four legs, wings like a dragonfly, mandibles like a spider, and a stinger tail.
