"Yes. It was my first job."

"You've worked many jobs." He flicks through my resume again, looking at the various places I've worked. "A cafe, a clothes store, a bakery, and more. Why did you switch so much?"

"I wanted experience in multiple places. I'm also not too keen on spending a lot of time in one place."

He places my resume back on the desk. "So you won't be staying here for too long?"

I shake my head, denying his words. "I'd like to work here for the rest of the year since I've gotten enough experience in other places. And I'd feel uncomfortable switching jobs in a foreign country."

He hums and questions me on various other things. I answer them to the best of my ability. Compared to my other interviews, this one isn't too bad, but my hands are still getting covered in a slick sheet of sweat from doing this in English. It's a lot more nerve racking than I thought it would be, despite my fluency.

"I have one more question for you," he states, placing his hands on his desk. "Why do you want to work here?"

Looking into his eyes, I try to remember the script I wrote out last night. "Well, I love music so this was my first option. It's something I've adored from a very young age. This shop drew me in more than the other record stores I passed, so I knew it would be the best place for me to work."

He smiles at me for the first time, seeming satisfied with my answer. "You're hired. You were always going to be. I'm assuming Victoria already told you that. She loves to rat out my intentions."

I send him a smile as well. "Thank you," I breathe out, playing with the bracelet on my wrist.

"I've noticed the best working days for students are Fridays to Mondays, so I'll have you work like that too. You can start tomorrow, right?"

Nodding frantically, I say, "Of course. I can start at the opening hour, but only for tomorrow I need to be gone by two." Levi wants me over at three to start our project.

Mr. Pierce nods and spends the next few minutes discussing things like remuneration, holidays and more.

He stands up and shakes my hand, thanking me for choosing his shop. We say our goodbyes and I leave the office, met with a cheery Victoria. "You starting tomorrow?"

"Yeah, in the morning," I tell her, adjusting the bag on my shoulders.

"I guess we won't see each other, then. You'll see Alejandro, though. He always works in the mornings." I hum at that, slowly starting to move away from her so she knows I want to leave. "I'll probably see you Monday. Bye, Adeline."

"Bye," I draw out, hearing the ring of the bell as I exit the shop.

This time, I already decided I would take the bus home since I have homework I want go finish today so I can relax later on and for the rest of the weekend.

The closest bus stop is only a five minute walk from here, and luckily, if I miss this bus, another one comes in ten minutes anyway.

I take my headphones out of my bag and place them over my ears, the sound of fast paced rap music filling my senses. My taste varies. I have playlists for all genres of music, the most played one being my classical playlist.

My eyes narrow at a figure in the distance with familiar shoulder length curls and darker skin, dressed in a white crop top and light washed jeans that I swear I've seen today. It's Sophia, but what really catches my attention is the man beside her. They're backs are turned to me so I can't make out their faces, but the build of the man and his dark brown hair is slightly recognisable.
