I sit up in the metal chair, feeling as if I was coming up from the bottom of a lake. I turn to face the Abnigation man, a Stiff, in the corner as he rushes toward me. His face is an ashen white and his eyes are wide. He grabs my arm and drags me to the back door. He opens it and tries to push me through but I lock my knees. I needed to know my faction.

"you need to get out!" he whispers franticly in my ear. He tries to shove me again, but this time I duck under his arm back into the test room.

I need to know. "what was my result?" I struggle to keep my voice below a yell.

"Divergent," the man averts his eyes, as if it were a curse. But it was as I had hoped. I was more than one snobby faction, and I had a choice.

"what faction did you enter me as?" I ask, curious as to his opinion on me.

"I shall do a verbal report, but was planning to say you were Candor," his reply is basic and based off my cloths, I forgot that Abnigation weren't creative.

"can you please call me a Dauntless?" it would be less suspicious if I go to the faction my test told me to.

The man nods, and I walk out the back door, carefully avoiding everyone as I exit the Hub.

I'm glad that I'm a Candor now, because father believes all my lies. I had to wander the city for a while so he wouldn't notice me showing up home early, but then all I had to do was say that my test went fine. No one could know that I was Divergent.

I was adopted by the leader of Candor, Jack Kang, when I was 12. I am now 14 but I was allowed to choose my faction early since I was already a transfer. Unlike most, I was %100 certain which faction I would choose. I couldn't wait to see my home again.
