'ugh, that was embarrassing.' i thought to myself as i closed the chat. i renamed the contact as "mystery boy" and turned my phone off, slightly embarrassed.

time skip - next morning, 8:30 am
setting - MIXTAPE internet cafe, jeongin's regular hangout/study spot

i walked into the cafe, the familiar sounds of people talking and laughing and the smell of fresh coffee filling my senses. i smiled, walking further into the cafe and hoping that nobody took my usual seat. i stood at the counter and ordered my usual, and sat over by the window in the corner, my favorite spot. i opened my laptop and took out my notebook, starting to make a set of memorization cards so i could study easier and hopefully ace my next test. we had a music production quiz next week, and until then, the class was reviewing everything from the last month or so.

after a while, i finished my drink and i was almost done studying, making small notes in my notebook to remember stuff easier. i suddenly heard a soft thud on the chair next to me, followed by the sound of another bag being hung on a hook underneath the tabletop. i looked to my side and my eyes widened a little.

"chan-hyung?" i felt my cheeks heat up a little bit. "hi. i didn't know you also knew this place?"

he nodded, flashing me a small smile as he put his americano on the table, next to my empty bubble tea cup. "oh yeah, i usually just come here for the vinyls and cds in the back, but i saw you being productive so i thought i might study too. i hope that doesn't bother you too much!" he took out his own laptop, which had a cute wolf sticker on it, and it said 'CB97' on it. the four characters looked familiar, but i couldn't quite put my finger on it.

"no, you're fine!" hell yeah, he was fine. "i don't mind at all." i looked him up and down for a moment, realizing he was wearing a cropped t-shirt, revealing his abs. i quickly looked away, my cheeks flushed.

a while later, i found myself reading webcomics while chan sat next to me, studying for what i assumed was the test next week. he looked like he was struggling a little bit, his tongue sticking out a little bit in concentration. he looked cute, but he was having trouble with something.

"do you need help, hyung?" i asked him, and he looked up, seeming confused. he took out one of his earbuds.

"sorry, what'd you say?" he looked at me like he was a little lost. probably because he didn't hear my question.

i repeated, and he nodded yes. "here, i'll send you the link to my memorization cards. can i get your number?" i held my phone out to him. he took it, and gave me his phone in return.

CHAN'S POV

i put in my number into jeongin's phone, realizing that he already had me in his contacts. "mystery boy..?" i thought to myself. i was about to tap the contact but a text from another number popped up. it was from han jisung, one of our other classmates.

i read the texts and blushed furiously. jeongin has a crush on me? i snuck a look at him, and he was busy putting in his number. he must've realized the same thing the same time i did, because his face turned a bright red. i exited the chat with han, and pressed on the contact he had for me, calling the number. my phone rang.

"i guess we already have each other's numbers, mystery boy." he said, handing me my phone with a small smile on his face. his cheeks were still a little red.

"i-i guess so." i mentally punched myself for stuttering, but how could i not? i just found out that the adorable boy in front of me, who i met literally yesterday, had a crush on me. he must've noticed my stammering, as he looked at me with a sly little smirk and he rested his head on the palm of his hand.

my heart's beating like crazy, and i don't even know why. i know the most basic information about this boy. he's 19. he's a music major, just like me, and we go to the same university. we even have similar friends. he's a sophomore. i'm a senior.

even though he liked me back, would it even work out?
