Jim sat in the meeting, trying to focus on the presentation, but his mind kept wandering to his phone, which had been buzzing non-stop. Finally, he couldn't take it anymore and excused himself, explaining that he needed to take an urgent call from his wife.
As he stepped out of the conference room, Barbara's panicked voice filled his ear. She told him about a teenager named Liam Thomas who had run away from home because his father was abusive and his mother had died. Jim's heart went out to the boy, and he knew he had to do something to help.
He quickly made arrangements to meet Barbara and Liam at the Gotham City Police Department. When he arrived, he found Barbara and Liam waiting for him, looking scared and uncertain. He took Liam's hand and led him inside, determined to do whatever it took to help him.
Once they arrived at the GCPD, Jim took Liam into a little cage to talk with his co-worker Harvey. Together, they discussed what Jim could do to help Liam, and whether or not he should adopt him. They talked about the challenges of raising a teenager, especially one who had been through so much trauma, but in the end, Jim knew in his heart that he wanted to help Liam.
He went back to Barbara and Liam and told them his decision. Liam's eyes filled with tears as he hugged Jim, grateful for the chance at a new life. Barbara beamed with pride at her husband's compassion and kindness. Together, they left the GCPD, ready to start a new chapter in their lives with Liam by their side.
