Maddie couldn't help but feel triumphant; she had succeeded in capturing Ethan's attention throughout their performance and even managed to steal his heart for those precious moments. Ethan stood backstage, still flushed from the duet performance with Maddie. The audience's applause reverberated in his ears as he wiped the sweat off his brow. His mind raced as he remembered his conversation with Kalani earlier that day, and her request to talk after the show.

He looked around, his eyes scanning the room in search of Kalani. Spotting her in the corner, he noticed her figure slumped against a wall, tears streaming down her face. Hurrying over to her, concern furrowed his brow.

"Kalani, what's wrong?" Ethan asked gently as he knelt beside her.

Between sniffles, she managed to choke out the words. "I can't do this, Ethan. I can't just stand here and watch you...kiss someone else on stage while we're dating."

He sighed and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. "I know it's hard, but we talked about this when we started dating, didn't we? We knew there would be challenging moments like this."

Kalani shook her head before continuing. "I thought I could handle it, but seeing it right in front of me...it's too much."
