Millicent

It's Monday morning and I'm sitting here. In my classroom. In my math class. The first two periods are math. That's like hell, who came up with this shit please? I was watching trough the window as my teacher started to talk to me.

"Millicent, could you please solve this task?", he asked and points at the board. He noticed that I wasn't paying attention to his instruction. I sighed. God I hope he knows how much I hated him. After some seconds in which I was looking at this task, I stood up and walked towards the board. I took the pen and a few seconds later the right answer were written on the board. I put the pen down on my teachers desk and looked up to him.

"Oh...good job Millicent. You can sit down again."

I grin because I do exactly know that he was thinking I couldn't do it. Just because I didn't pay attention, doesn't it mean that I can't do it. I sat down on my seat again, then my best friend whispers to me who was sitting right next to me.
"Nerd.", he teased me. I smiled because of it. It's crazy how my mood depends on this dude. "Shut up Matteo and pay attention to the class." I replied. After that I continued to look through the window, with my elbow on the table and my hand that supported my head. I turned slightly so I didn't have to look at him, then he begins to laugh quietly. "Says the right one huh?", he said before he looked at the bored again, but I continued to feel his gaze on me, every now and then. I ignored it and after some time I was totally in thoughts again. I hope this will be over soon.

*2 hours later*

The door bell rang I packed my stuff into my bag. I looked over to Matteo, waiting for him while I leaned against my desk with my phone in my hand. "Are we going into the cafeteria again? It's not lunch break yet but we can skip our time there as well, don't you think!", he asked me. I nodded. "Yes this sounds good, it's raining anyway."
When he finished to pack in his materials as well, we went in direction to the cafeteria. It's extremely loud in the hallway. Girls were laughing, boys screaming. I hate those loud sounds but although i was yawning.
"This tired huh? Did you even sleep last night Millicent? I can see your dark circles under your eyes." Matteo looked down to me, I can see his concern in his eyes but I nodded. "Yes it's fine, don't worry" I smiled at him to show him that I was alright.

Matteo

I know that she said that she was alright but I noticed there were something that bothered her. Should I talk to her about it? Rather not, if I ask her again, she will probably get angry. But I really want to know what is going on in her mind, at least she is my best friend. As I opened my mouth to begin my sentences, I noticed some guys leaning on their lockers and staring at her. This was usual. Many guys wanted to talk to her, i mean she is quite popular by the guys. She is gorgeous but these guys were just seeing that. And nothing else. I'm proud of myself that I'm not like them. I gave them an annoyed gaze and they turned around immediately.

After some time we reached the cafeteria. We sat down on a free table, i was sitting in front of her. She was looking at the other side of the cafeteria. I followed her gaze and saw some girls standing there. These girls. I turned around again to Millicent and saw her sad but annoyed face.
"Are they still ignoring you?", i asked her. She just nodded. She leans her head on her hand and looks onto the table. I could see that she was upset about how her own friends were treating her. I wanted to comfort her.
"Hey..what is if you go over there and started to talk to them? I don't think that the only reason why they're ignoring you is because you're good with me..It doesn't make much sense for me." I suggested. I was trying to fix this for her, maybe was the reason for her black circles because she didn't sleep because of these girls. God I hate them.

"But-" she started talking but i interrupted her. I don't want her to think about it too much so I tried to make myself clear.
"No 'but'. Do you really want them to treat you like this? You're better than this, so have the courage and the maturity to ask them what's going on, alright?" I smile to her so she doesn't think that I'm disappointed by her. I just wanted to give her the chance to stand up for herself.

She widens her eyes as I say so but blushes slightly. She looks again on the table and smiles. "Thank you...yes I think you're right. I'll go over there now and try to figure out whats wrong." She stands up.
"Good to hear. Don't let them make you feel weak." After I finished my sentence she walked towards these girls. I could see her how nervous she was because she was fidgeting with her rings while working. But she can do this. Right after she reached these girls I could see their annoyed and disgusted gazes at her. How could they dare? Millicent built herself up and tried to talk to them, and they actually listened. I couldn't hear what she was saying but I knew that she was doing great. I was watching her and her gestures carefully before these girls were walked away. She walked back to me as well. She was pissed off. That was obvious when I saw her face. The more she approached again, the more my curiosity grew about what they said. Then she sat down in front of me again and looks at me. I looked her with a big Question mark on my face.

"Okay listen..." she leans closer to me so I do the same. "It isn't just because I'm good with you...it's because they all like you." She smiles at me, waiting for a response. Was she serious? I shook my head slightly and started talking again. "Are you serious?" I asked her with widened eyes. If this was really the reason, then I hate them even more now. Even if they might like me, that would still be no reason to avoid Millicent and ignore her. Second by second the anger rises in me. I couldn't believe it, I mean, what exactly went wrong in there life's, to be this superficial? After a few seconds Millicent breaks my thoughts. "Yes I'm serious. I can't believe it either. I think it's better when I don't have any contacts to them in future. I mean, just because of this they're ignoring me?" She asked with a big amused grin on her face. Good to know we were thinking the same. "How childish." I admit and chuckle. Both of them were laughing and making jokes about them now, they couldn't believe it. But then he reminds on something and gets serious again.
"But are you sure you aren't sad about it? I mean...they were your friends after all."     I asked her calmly so she doesn't get mad at me for constantly asking this. Although I wanted her know that I care for her. She seemed to think about my question for a short time before answering. "Of course it isn't nice but, if they want to act so foolish, I won't stop them. I don't want to waist my time with thinking about what they did or so." When is saw her smiling I breathed out, out of relief that she seems to be okay.

"And.." she continues. "Thanks for giving me advice. I'm happy to see you worrying about me."
I definitely didn't except that. When she says something like that she is either drunk or tired. Her kindness is really rare and I'm thankful for feeling it sometimes. "Please, don't thank me. It's natural for me. At least you're my best friend" he smiled warmly at her before taking out his phone to check on it quickly. He got some new notifications, one of them was a message from his couch of his soccer team. He told him that a soccer game would take place on this Saturday. Then he got an idea. After another a few minutes of silence, he started talking again.
"Millicent? I wanted to ask you something."
"Huh? Go on."
"I have a soccer game at this Saturday so I wanted to ask you if you're free to come to watch it?" I would be glad to her to come, at least she is my biggest support "And you can tell your parents that I'll catch you up and bring you back home after it safely." I continued when I remembered how strict her parents can be. She listend to me carefully and answered after it. "Of course I can. I'll ask my parents. But I don't think they won't be against it. Especially my mother. She loves you even more than me." She jokes and I chuckle along with her about it.

I thanked her for wanting to come and then the school bell rang.

Millicent

After the door bell rang, I tried to remember which subject we have now.
"Uhm, do you know which subject do we have now?" I stood up and looked down to Matteo, who is still sitting.
"Can't you schedule the timetable at your own?" He asked me. I know he was just joking but I roll my eyes anyways.
"Of course not. For what do I have you for?" I laughed. "How kind of you" he responded. "We have two periods of history now." He finally answered my question. Great, Monday is official the day of the worst subjects. "Alright. Shall we go to our class now?" He stood up as well and started walking with me.
"Go ahead, I'll go to the toilet before. I won't take so long." He smiled at me before going down the other hallway. It's not my fault if he's late to class.
She heads over to her class, walking past the lockers and some single students who were leaning against them.
Then suddenly, somebody grabbed her by the arm.
