Aether x Reader - Due Date

Start from the beginning

Aether's quick to make sure your alright.
"You alright?" He asks.
You nod, as the nurse comes in with the baby. She lays the bundle on your chest, and you gently rub your hand over the little face. Such a tiny little thing.

"Congratulations, ma'am," The Nurse says. "You have a beautiful baby girl."
You smile, looking down at your daughter, and she smiles too, before she starts to fuss and cry.
"She's beautiful, She's so beautiful," Aether says, looking down at his daughter, his kit, as you cradle her and hold her close to your chest.
You smile.

"You owe me 20 bucks," You murmur, chucking softly. "It's not a boy,"

Aether shakes his head. "No, she's not,"
"Do you want to find out her element?" You ask.
"Gladly," He gently places one of his large fingers on his daughter's tiny head, reading through her essence. He stays quiet for a moment, thinking, then smiles. "She's like me," he whispers a giddy smile plastered across his face. "She's like me!"

You smile. Your daughter's a Quintessence ghoul, just like her father.

The nurse comes in with a basin of water. You wash the blood off your daughter and she starts to cry again. You smile, and wrap her in a soft, pink, blanket. You hand her to Aether, letting him hold his daughter for the very first time.
"She's so tiny," He says. "I can't believe she's mine."

"I know," You murmur.
The nurse smiles. "Do you have a name for her yet?" She asks.
Aether looks at you. "I only had names if she was a boy,"

You think for a moment. "I think Banshee would suit her," You say. "It's a fierce, powerful name. She'd be a fierce ghoul."
"Banshee?" He says, smiling. "I like it." He smiles, sitting up in the bed. "Powerful name for our strong little girl,"

You smile, your eyelids are heavy, exhaustion setting in. You decide to get some rest. You drift off into the depths of sleep.

The next time you open your eyes, the room is dark and quiet. You sit up and find a set of clothes sitting on the table for you to change into. You slip them on, and find yourself in complete darkness. You're still in the infirmary room, you feel around the walls for the door and push it open, stepping into a dim hallway. You walk down the hallway into the living room, where everyone's sitting and chatting.

You spot Aether laying on the loveseat, little Banshee sleeping on his chest, her tiny body fitting between his pecks perfectly. You close the door behind you and walk over to the loveseat, watching as Aether continues to watch over his daughter. He glances over at you, smiles and waves you over to sit down.

You smile, and plop down beside him. "She's beautiful," You murmur. He nods.
Copia comes downstairs and notices the small amount of commotion in the living room. he walks in, looking at both of you. "What's going on?" he asks.

"We're celebrating." Cirrus says from the couch. "Y/N had her baby,"

He looks at you, then at Aether, then notices the tiny baby ghoulette asleep on Aether's chest. His eyebrows rise and he smiles. "Is that...?"
"Yes," you nod.

"And it's a ghoul?"
"Of course it's a ghoul," You say. "What else would she be?"

He smiles. "She's so tiny, I almost missed it."
"Almost," You grin. "You were right."
"About what?" He asks.
"That the world would never be the same."
He laughs, and raises his drink. "To the future." He says.

Everybody agrees.
You can see Dew sitting on the floor, tentatively watching Banshee as she sleeps on Aether's chest.
You look over at him and he glances at you.
"You want to hold her?" You ask softly.

He smiles, and nods. You stand, and walk over to the loveseat. You slide your hand under her head, and lift her into the air, holding her out so Dew can see her. He sits up and holds his arms out.

Everyone watches intensely as you gently lay Banshee in Dewdrop's arms. Dew looks at the small kit, his face looked almost blank. You're not quite sure what to make of it.
Banshee squirms and you see Dew tense.

Banshee lets out her first few mewls as she squirms in Dew's arms, before settling herself and leaning into Dew's body.
You smile as Dew cradles the tiny kit close to him.

Aether smiles, seeing his best friend hold his daughter.

You notice that the love and happiness in everyone's eyes, reflected in your own.

Banshee opens her tiny eyes and looks up at you, with a few mewls. You smile down at her. She's beautiful. She's a pretty little girl, with light, soft grey skin with darker patches around her body, that look like they should contour muscles she hasn't developed yet. She has long, slender fingers and a big nose, and tiny ears. You can see her resemblance to Aether, but she's her own individual being.

"She' s really tiny," Dew says, awestruck. "So small..."

You smile. You've never seen Dew so interested in a child before.
"I named her Banshee," you tell him. "I wanted a name that was fierce and powerful for her."
"It fits," He smiles. Dew cradles Banshee in his arms, completely infatuated with his best friend's daughter.

Aether moves off the loveseat to sit next to Dew on the floor.
"I think she likes you," You say.
Dew smiles and laughs. "She's such a cutie."
You laugh, and your spirits rise. You hang out for a while, everyone chatting and playing with the baby.
