From the moment we met we were inseparable, partners in crime, and the best of friends. As we ran around the playground soaking in the sun, laughter echoing through the air, with a bond so tight it felt like nothing could break it.

Our bond was a tapestry woven with shared adventures, whispered secrets under starry skies, and a silent understanding that transcended words.

Even outside of school our days were filled with epic adventures in the backyard, where sticks became swords, and the old oak tree transformed into a mighty fortress. We battled imaginary dragons, rescued damsels in distress (usually my little sister, much to her delight), and conquered uncharted territories with boundless enthusiasm.

As we grew older, life's currents threatened to pull us in different directions. As we entered middle school, we went through different things. We found our own interests and friend groups though we still talked. Then eighth grade summer, the summer before freshman year of high school brought a variety of new pathways, new horizons beckon, and suddenly we were waving goodbye at a crossroads.

There's a bittersweet ache as memories flood back, a mix of gratitude for the past and a tinge of sadness for what's no longer there. It's like watching a favorite movie end, knowing the credits are rolling on that chapter of your life.

It's tough when you realize you're growing apart from someone who you've known for so long; losing my best friend felt as if I lost a sibling.

The acceptance of how sometimes distance can make the heart grow fonder.

I learned to embrace the journey and the people who come into your life along the way, but sometimes I always wondered what if- what if our paths aligned once more?
