Set in 1989
The snow was falling outside. A light breeze blowing over the fields. Integra was sitting on the windowsill. She couldn't sleep. So she looked out over the fields of the night. There was no city light visible from the Hellsing mansion. So the clear sky made the stars shine bright. Lightening up the white powder that was covering everything. It was beautiful.
Integra jumped down from the windowsill. She quietly slipped over towards her closet. She pulled out a big winter coat, some cloves, a scarf and a warm hat. She then made her way downstairs. Holding her boots in her arms. All the lights were out. But the clear sky let the star light shine in through the windows. Making the dark mansion light up.
Integra put on her boots, and opened the big door. Her face was met by the cold breeze. And her warm breath became visible in the cold air. She smiled softly to herself. Before stepping outside. Closing the door quietly behind her.
Integra almost jumped down the stairs. She landed both feet in the untouched snow. And reached down to touch it. She grabbed some and made herself a snowball. Not really as round as in movies but it was alright. She threw as far as she could. Watching it land some meters away.
Integra let her gaze look around the empty space that was surrounding the mansion. She loved how the stars lit up the white snow. And not a sound could be heard. It was so peaceful. Her mind was calm. And for the first time in a long while, she felt happy again. This is how every 12 year old should be feeling.
Integra ran out onto the open field. She didn't stop to think. She accidentally tripped and fell head first down into the snow. She raised her head from the cold snow covered ground. She shook her head, to get the snow of her face. Then she started laughing, as she turned around to lie down on her back. Integra kept laughing as she made a snow angle. She stopped and looked up at the sky.
"See those three clear stars Integra?"
Arthur asked, as he pointed to the sky.
"Yeah!"
Integra replied.
"Those are called Orion's belt"
Arthur said, and smiled to his daughter. Integra widened her eyes in surprise.
"What! Do all stars have names?"
Integra asked overwhelmed with this new information. Arthur laughed and held his daughters hand tighter.
"There exist a lot of stars. Many of which we can't even see from here!"
Arthur continued.
"Actually most of the stars we see each night, are already dead"
He said as he gave his daughter a teasingly startled look.
"Wha! Can stars die? Are they alive!?"
Integra was so caught up in her father's story. She didn't even feel cold, as they were lying on the cold snow covered ground. She had never heard such amazing stories before.
"Yeah... Stars are just like our sun. A big ball of hot plasma..."
Arthur chuckled as he could see his daughters confused face.
"I'll tell you more when you're older..."
Arthur laughed again, and booped Integra's nose.
"We better get you inside before you freeze over!"
Arthur said enthusiastic and sat up from the ground.
"No I wanna hear more about stars!"
Integra said irritated. Arthur looked down at her with a funny look.
