Chapter 1: all this time

Year 2016 ( 4 years later )

It's been 4 years since the vampires took us in as a livestock. Every single day, we would have to line up, wait for our turn to enter the building for us to give them a bag full of our blood. I was behind Mika, waiting in line for them to check our name off to take our blood.

As I waited in line, I always wanted to remember feeling the sun hitting me and a cool breeze that I long to wait for. Instead of all of these dreams, we've been stuck in an underground city feeling trapped instead of being protected like what they said.

After checking Yuu's and Mika's name off, they waited for me till it was my turn. "Next" he said sternly,"(Y/N)(L/N)" I announced quietly which he tried to find my name on the board. He then moved his hand toward the clipboard and wrote something on it, "Next", he sternly repeated.

Walking past him, I ran towards them tripping on my way there and saw Mika smile while Yuu kept his hand in his pockets. "You should smile sometimes Yuu since...I almost forgot that you even smile in your own life time." I said putting both of my hands behind my back and leaning towards him. " I would smile if all of the vampires would all disappear" Yuu said in a cool way while looking ahead which made me pout.

Once reaching our destination, we entered a large arch till we reached a big dim room with tubes that was once empty now that it full of blood. Both of them laid down an their own individual seat waiting for the vampires to puncture their skin, to collect the blood that is specifically under their neck since it was a directly fresh blood that came from the heart.

I went towards a grey chair that allowed you to lay down half way which was created with the same material that the wall is made out of, rock. Getting closer to the chair, I felt a slight electricity surge near my spine, feeling how terrified I'm still am even though this event would happen everyday. Since my height was shorter, I would have to jump on it half way, pushing my self up till I got in a comfortable position.

Staring at the vampire who was preparing a bag and a needle for the next patient, I sat up using my elbow to find Mika and Yuu. After a while of searching for them in the dim lit room, my elbows gave out which made me lay back down.

Once they were finished preparing, my head shot up to think of something else to distract the pain. Feeling a sharp pinch towards my neck, my mouth left a hissed in pain while it lasted for several seconds till the stinging sensation left. Sitting up, a wave of dizziness hit me till I felt someone grabbing my arm supporting my weight on them.

Keeping my head low knowing who it was, we exited the building grabbing a juice on the way to rest.

"Thanks Mika, what would have happened if your not here" I whispered in a jokey tune,

"No problem, it's much better to help you instead of standing there watching, (Y/n)-chan." Mika said looking down on me."yeah, your such a gentleman, not like the Baka who's walking right beside us", " Hey!", Yuu said as Mika started blushing from the comment.

Walking slowly not to far from the building, Mika let my arm slide down his shoulder, letting me lay down on the top of the stairs to rest, putting my arms behind my head.

I started fall asleep until Yu started shouting that made me escape my peaceful paradise, " When will this Baka stop talking about how horrible life it is down here. I feel like I hear about this everyday." I thought leaving a sigh. Squinting towards my side towards them, I saw both of them talking, hearing their full conversation.

"You're not going to drink it again? You'll get sick" Mika said while I barely opened one eye,

"I can't drink this disgusting crap!" Yuu shouted while squeezing the plastic pouch in his hands,

"Because your such a gourmet" Mika sighed,

"You stop doing whatever they say, too" Yu replied back

" I don't think it's that bad" ,

"Seriously?!" Yu shouted...again,

"We can't be killed here, and more importantly, we could live with our family" Mika said.

After he said that, I sat up and leaned towards the side of the stairs for support, not being surprised of Mika's announcement . He was always a caring person toward our family since the first week he arrived in the Hyakuya Orphanage. Even though Yuu had been a stubborn person when he arrived.

"Isn't that enough,"

" I'm not their livestock," Yuu argued back.

" ugh, you know, being stubborn won't help at all-"

I then saw a flying pouch that is thrown towards Mika's direction which he skillfully dodge.

"Hey Yu, I think you should calm down a bit" I calmly said before seeing a a kid being pushed and the other one getting his hands stepped on by a vampire. " They just did that like they're nothing" I thought as my teeth gritted. Yu then got up and ran towards them.

"YUU!" I shouted

"Yuu-chan, don't" Mika said extending one his arms out,

He then grabbed on to one of them, getting picked up by the hood of his white uniform.

"Apologize!" Yuu said trying his best to breathe, " Apologize to them",

" Um, im sorry, he's really stupid and there's something wrong in his brain, uh, so, please forgive him" Mika said trying to convince them.

"Stop it Mika, I'm gonna kick his-"

Yuu shouted as he tried to struggle out of his inhuman grip.

They then brought him towards the side of the property where he could fall to his death, threatening him without saying anything that he was a merely livestock towards them.

Hearing my heart beating in my ears, I bawled my fist feeling a sweat drop down on my face.

"Yuu.... please stop," My body couldn't move, feeling helpless since they were stronger then us.

"Please, let Yuu go, we won't do anything else to bother you again." I told them going beside him.

"Hello" someone said in a calmly voice behind us.

The vampire that was holding Yu turned around and dropped him on the ground.

" A noble?" he said,

"Lord Ferid" Mika shouted as he ran up to him, the noble had a long silver hair that was tied by a red ribbon. He wore earring and a white uniform that reached towards his knees and had a white cape that was connected to it.

"Hello Mika-kun, what were you doing here?" He asked in the same tone.
