i spent the hours observing the people, especially niragi. he was more composed than he had been at the beach, and a whole lot more tactical. i had clearly underestimated him, but with that conclusion, doubts came up in me. maybe niragi was the jack of hearts? during the ten of hearts game, he had done exactly that—manipulating the players and planting distrust. it didn't seem strange to guess it really was him. i needed to chuckle. how sad that he would die at the end of the game. i really wanted to get to know him, now, where he didn't have the pressure of appearing big and strong like back at the beach.
the game went on, and more and more people betrayed each other. niragi stayed with seto, after the round the group wanted to kill him, he had stayed strictly at the tall male's side. me and ippei, too, had parted ways with the group and stayed alone. what was a bit worrying, was ippei's quickly decreasing mental stability. he couldn't wrap his head around the fact, that they actually started to kill each other brutally. he didn't belong here. he didn't deserve to participate in these games.
i walked along the hallway to ippei's cell and looked through the bars. what a shame... the young male lay on the ground, his blood, staining his yellow pullover, was splattered across the walls. "you were too kind for this world, ippei-kun.", i whispered. i wasn't the feeling type, but his death made even my cold heart sting a bit. after a moment of silence, i continued. "well, looks like i have lost my partner." i mumbled and left, to go to the cafeteria, to think about what to do next.

“lets share symbols”, niragi stood there, leaning against the wall, smirking. i raised my eyebrows. “why?” niragi laughed. “there are currently two pairs and we two and my friend. one pair is a psychopath and his little toy, and the other one is a murderer with a narcissistic emo. i doubt that any of them will tell you or me our symbols.” i narrowed my eyes. “why are you asking me if you have a partner?” niragi sighed. “i have the feeling that he's betraying me. which is sad, because i did like him.” “you'd want to see me dead, though.”, i said, confused. “why should i trust you?” he looked down and chuckled, before he answered.
“when i kill you, i will make you die a slow, painful death. you don't deserve a death by a collar that makes your neck explode. so, you're safe for now. and also— you're probably thinking the same way than me, right?” i rolled my eyes. “i don't care about you, or how you die. it's better if you die, for everyone.” niragi still kept his grin. “whatever. if you change your mind, the offer still stands.” then, he grabbed a yellow pack of biscuits and left the cafeteria. i started to think about his offer. he really seemed a lot more friendly than before—what had happened after the fire?
it could definitely be just a mask, something to appear more sympathetic, but from the look in his eyes i felt like he meant it. there was something different in them, pushing the void away that had been present the whole time i knew him. was he really able to change? and why would he trust me so willingly?

“niragi.”
the younger male looked up. “oh! hi.” he looked back down, fiddeling with a stress toy. “i take your offer. let's tell each other our symbols.” niragi grinned. “so you do wanna live, huh?”
chishiya shrugged. “so? what's my symbol?” niragi stood up to get behind chishiya. “diamond.” he turned around. “and me?” i looked at his symbol. heart. i could just kill him, now and forever. “di—”, i paused. no. he seemed like he was genuinely changing himself. i couldn't take his chance for that. “heart. you're a heart.”, i whispered and turned around to leave, but he grabbed my arm. “i knew you wouldn't be able to kill me off like that.”, he whispered into my ear and pulled me against his chest. i laid my head back on his shoulder and enjoyed the small kisses and bites he left on my neck.
“i need you. you're the only one that actually knows how to fuck properly.”, chishiya mumbled. “aww, and i thought you liked me because of my personality.”, niragi giggled. “it's a shame it's not as charming as your cock. if it was, i might even like— gah~ continue that.”, chishiya pressed himself against niragi who started sucking on his collar bones. “sorry to say this, but we need to get into the cells now, darling.” and he let go abruptly. i followed him, smiling softly. “you really changed a lot. i was questioning if you were the jack of hearts when you started manipulating seto, but...”
niragi laughed. “i might be.” i went into a confinement cell and said the symbol—i was still alive. guess niragi really didn't lie to me. i heard s different door open—that must have been enji, who was on my floor. soon, i heard a crazed laugh escaping his mouth and opened the door, only to be met with a startled matsushita. “i had a feeling you were the jack of hearts.”
