24. code red, code red

Luckily, Stephanie convinces Max and El to go to her house so she can find a new pair of clothes and have a shower since she hasn't had one in about three days.

༺♥༻ Stephanie goes into her room after taking a shower in her parents' bathroom, since they're taking a two month trip to Florida for the summer.

She finds clothes to wear while Max gets in the shower after her. Once Stephanie's dressed, she goes down the stairs, past Steve's room, where he's probably sulking about the fact that he doesn't have a girlfriend yet, or even writing college essays (trying to write college essays) but somehow they always end up in the trash sooner or later.

Stephanie goes to the kitchen and sits down on the island chairs while watching the tv that was left on probably by Steve last night.

After a while, Max and El come downstairs together Max wearing clothes she brought from home, El wearing clothes that she bought from the mall a few days prior. Without talking, they all walk out the front door and grab their bikes which were left on their sides from earlier.

They pedal their way to Mikes house, El on the back of Max's yellow bike and Stephanie on her own blue one.

They make it down to the basement and see Will sitting on the arm of a chair, along with Mike and Lucas sitting on the couch.

El sits down in a chair while Max and Stephanie sit on the ground next to each other.

Will takes a deep breath and starts his speech. "I didn't think it was anything at first. I mean, I think I just didn't want to believe it." Will looks down at the ground. "The first time I felt it was at Day of the Dead," Will practically whispers. He's talking about the Mind Flayer. Will says he gets this feeling whenever he's close...whatever that means.

"Power went out that night, too," Mike adds.

"And then I felt it again at the field near the Nelson farm the next day. Then again yesterday outside Castle Byers." Will keeps listing off names of places where he felt this feeling.

"What does it feel like?" Max asks, saying what everyone's been thinking.

"It's almost like..." Will hesitates for a moment. "You know when you drop on a roller coaster?"

"Sure."

"Yeah."

"Of course."

"Yeah."

"No."

Will starts to explain more. "It's like...everything inside your body is just sinking all at once, but...this is worse."

Stephanie frowns, feeling sorry for Will that this keeps happening to him even after all these years. He doesn't deserve all of this, she'd rather have Mike be the possessed one.

"Your body...it goes cold and--and you can't breathe," Will stutters through his response. "I've felt it before, whenever he was close."

"Whenever who was close?" Max asks, in barely a whisper.

"The Mind Flayer," Will says sternly, staring down at his hands.
