I walk around the street and find a cafe just a few blocks down. It's a good place to start, not too big, plus it will give me a decent amount of cash.
As I open the door a little bell at the top of the door rings in a sort of welcoming tone. "Hey, how's it goin'?", says a man behind the counter in a New Jersey accent.
"Quite fine. Thank you." I reply. "I saw your sign in the front of your store... you're hiring, is that correct?" "Yeah, here is a job application. Come by anytime for an interview. " He responds while getting a cappuccino for the customer behind me.
"Thank you." I say as I leave the cafe and start heading down the street, towards the grocery store.
At the grocery store I pick up some meat, vegetables and fruit so we could have food at our hotel.
That was a nice cafe, I think I will apply for it soon. I don't think it is necessary to look for any other jobs, because I feel pretty confident about the one at the café so I decide to head back a little earlier.
When I reach the hotel, I realize I forgot to grab an extra key to our room. I ring the bell at the front desk and a woman with short blonde hair and long earrings appears behind the counter. "Hello. My name is Julie, how may I be of service?"
"Hi. I was wondering if I could get another key to my room, room 217, the romantic suite?" I tell her.
She pauses, with a puzzling sort of look, then seems to realize something.
"Ah, yes. You were with that man, just a few hours ago. I remember now, hold on a minute.... Here you are Room 217. Have a nice day! "
I nod and begin walking towards the room. I wonder, was that look because of me. Surely, she hadn't thought I was trying to fool her and break into a room? Perhaps, she recognized me from earlier?
