Randall is hurt and takes shelter weeks after he got beaten with a shovel. He remembers her horrible voice to this day, that kid who apparently couldn't see he was a monster.
His wounds infected and exposed to the elements. His vision, already not good as is, would hurt. He was close to collapsing, when he did, he was found by a human girl who wasn't so afraid of monsters.
