Chapter 11 - Proud

"Damn it!"

I dip my head down again and force myself to see underwater. When I got a glimpse of her hand, I swam towards it to grab it so that I could bring her up with me.

Napahinto ako dahil parang may napigil sa kanya para makaahon. Bigla akong kinabahan.

Is there a monster under the water? Oh freak!

Should I just leave her here and tell everyone that she fell and drowned?

Stupid, Claire!

Wala akong nagawa kundi ang lumangoy ulit pailalim, ginagap ko ang paa nya at nakita ko na may nakapulupot duon na dahon or damo? I don't know what it is ,basta pinutol ko iyon at umahon na ulit ako.

Habol ang hininga ko habang hinihigit ko sya papuntang gilid.

I laid her comfortably on the ground and wiped my face. I'm catching my breath as I wait for her to wake up.

Tinapik tapik ko sya pero no response. Napamura nalang ako at pinakinggan ang dibdib nya.

"Addison!"

Panic was now evident in my voice. I cursed before putting pressure on her chest. I disregard my shyness as I give her some oxygen to breathe again.

"Damn it! Wake up!"- I hissed and bowed down again to give her CPR.

I don't care if our lips are touching now. All I want is to see her open her eyes again.
Sana hindi ko nalang sya ginulat kanina pero hindi ko naman talaga sya ginulat. Sadyang nagulat lang sya na sinundan ko pala sya.

After a few more minutes, she finally coughed and let all the water out of her mouth. She opened her eyes slowly, and I sighed in relief.

Sobra sobra pala ang kaba ko dahil sobrang lakas ng tibok ng puso ko. Inangat ko ng bahagya ang katawan nya at wala sa sariling niyakap sya.

"You scared me.."- I whispered.

I felt her weak arm wrap around me as well.

"I-I'm okay."- paos na sabi nya at bahagya akong tinulak.

She gave me a small smile as well, maybe to ease the tension and make me calm down.

"Let's head back. Can you walk, or do you want me to carry you?"

She shakes her head and says, "I think I can manage, Claire. Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine now."

Inalalayan ko nalang sya tumayo at hindi na nakipagtalo pa. Hindi sinasadya na bumaba ang tingin ko sa katawan nya at napansin ko na wala sa ayos yung dress nya.

"Fix your dress."- I said, turning my back on her.

"Claire, don't worry. What happened here stays here. I won't tell it to anyone."- I heard her speak softly behind me, but I didn't look back because I might regret it.

"Miss Arden? Why are you still here? Lahat ng estudyante nasa gym na."

"E ikaw bakit nandito ka po?"

Natigilan naman ang teacher ko at maang na napatitig sa akin.

"I'm a teacher, and it's a part of my job to check up on my students."- she said after recovering.

Nilagpasan ko sya at narinig ko na may binulong pa ito. Sanay naman na ako na everyone find me rude. I just really hate talking and socializing with people. If it weren't for my parents forcing me to study and make friends, I wouldn't be here, and I'm just in my room making paintings and studying on my own.
