all haeri could do was watch in disbelief at how quickly the boy had abandoned her and ran up the stairs. "i can't even be mad at that kid." she shook her head as she took her phone out of her pocket. and similar to kai just a few seconds ago, haeri's eyes almost popped out of her head once she saw the time. "are you fucking serious?!"

and just as she was about to bolt up the stairs, the school bell rang. "who am i kidding? i was not about to run up three flights of stairs anyways." she shrugged and adjusted her bag before trudging up the steps. "wow the halls are like scarily quiet and empty right now..." she mumbled before facepalming at her own stupidity a few seconds later. "right... i'm late..."

she successfully made it to the second floor. however, due to her lack of athletic ability, she was winded just from going up those steps alone. the girl breathlessly leaned against the railing and looked up the stairwell as she attempted to catch her breath, dreading going up the next set of stairs. but to her surprise, someone was sat at the bottom of the second set of stairs which led to the top floor. "choi beomgyu?" she quietly whispered in confusion.

the boy was simply just blankly staring at his phone, completely unbothered by the fact that classes had begun. haeri debated with herself, unsure if she should approach him, but it wasn't like she had much of a choice. i mean, she had to go to the next floor to get to class.

to mentally prepare herself, she took a quick deep breath before she resumed her hike up the steps. there were only five steps but to her those five steps felt like fifty. yeah, she was pretty out of shape if it wasn't obvious already. the fact that she felt awfully exhausted this morning probably didn't help either but eventually she reached the middle platform of the stairs and quietly approached her classmate.

haeri cleared her throat. "morning, beomgyu," she spoke with a smile. "what are you doing here?" however, no response came from the boy. "you do know the bell rang already, right?" she asked in hopes of him responding but, to no avail, he remained silent.

a light sigh escaped haeri's mouth, signifying her acceptance of defeat. she turned on her heel and began climbing up the steps, carefully walking around beomgyu. "haeri?" said girl jumped at the sudden voice that echoed throughout the stairwell. luckily she managed to grab hold of the railing before she could embarrass herself by toppling down the steps. "oh! sorry, i didn't mean to scare you," beomgyu mumbled apologetically with his hand finding its way to his nape.

"no, no, its fine." haeri walked down the stairs and took a seat next to the boy. "what were you doing? you do know class has started already, right?"

"yeah, i know. i just didn't really feel like going yet, i guess." he said, turning to haeri with a slight grin on his face. he was grinning but, why did he look so sad? but before haeri could question that, beomgyu spoke up first. "wait but why aren't you in class? you're never late." he questioned as he took out his earbuds.

oh, that's why he didn't hear me... haeri mentally cursed at herself for how stupid she had made herself look. now it was her turn to reach for the back of her neck. "oh, you know," she awkwardly laughed. "just a little tired."

he frowned. "well that sucks but its understandable, you were up till two in the morning after all. did you not go to sleep after i texted you?"

haeri raised an eyebrow at the question. "you texted me?"

"yeah, i messaged you not too long after getting your text." beomgyu informed her watching as she fished her phone out of her bag. as she unlocked her phone and opened her messages, the boy couldn't help but smile a little at the contact name she had saved him as.

haeri read the message with wide eyes before looking at the boy next to her with an apologetic stare. "i'm so sorry. i put my phone down right after i finished messaging you so i could sleep."

beomgyu flashed her a quick smile before pushing himself off the stairs. "it's no problem. i'm glad you got home alright and got a little sleep in before school." he swung his bag over his shoulder before holding a hand out to haeri. "we should probably get to class now though. we're about," he took a quick look at his watch, "15 minutes late?"

"damn, it took me that long to get up those stairs?" haeri mumbled to herself but apparently not quiet enough because a laugh had slipped out of beomgyu's mouth. he quickly covered his face and turned away from the glare haeri had been shooting at him. "whatever, let's just get to class."

beomgyu peeked through his hands and saw the girl already making her way up the steps. "wait for me!" he yelled but haeri just laughed and quickened her pace. he couldn't help but laugh with her as he quickly made his way up the steps, trying his best to catch up with her.

the empty hall slowly became filled with the both of theirs laughter. beomgyu was practically chasing after haeri, shouting at her in whispers, scared of a teacher hearing him and sending him to detention.

eventually, she had halted in her steps and waited till the long-haired boy caught up. "oh, so now you want to stop?" he panted.

"i mean, this is our classroom so..." beomgyu stared at her and shook his head in disbelief. "shall we go in then?" haeri asked him innocently, trying her best not to stifle out a laugh, before sliding the door open.
