A revenge paid in blood for the fact that Seru's father, Negi (pun on the word Tamanegi (= Onion in Japanese)) was the one who killed a member of that gang, even though it was an act of defense on behalf of both the lives himself, his children and his wife's, Nin (pun on the word Nin'niku (Garlic in Japanese) that were openly threatened.
After the death of his parents, Seru had to be more mature and less naive earlier in his life, due to the fact that he didn't had to fend only for himself, but for his newborn sister as well.
The first days of that life were hard since one time for a petty theft, the shop owner lashed out furiously towards him, becoming the reason of a huge scar on Seru's chest.
Yeah... maybe doing a petty theft on a butcher shop - the owner of which was holding a massive cleaver that he wasn't afraid of using mind you - as his first place was a poorly made decision and the fact that Seru had just barely dodged the cleave was a grim reminder of that.
Once Caulifla grew older, Seru was the one to teach her how to survive in the streets of Sadala, along with some basic yet effective self defense and some basic morality advices, such as take from the rich and give to the poor.
It was at that moment that although the possibility of having a gang was one of Seru's worst thoughts due to his and Caulifla's past, he knew that in order for them to get the basic needs guaranteed, they had to do it and thus his life as a gang leader had officially begun.
Although his gang had a specific territory, it wasn't based on terrorism, but on a strict code of honor. Think about it like a Saiyan version of Robin Hood if you want to compare it to something more formal.
In one of those days, they had saved another girl, that girl being the legendary Super Saiyan of Universe 6, Kale herself, from a $*x trafficker. A girl that Caulifla had bonded with, with bonds equal to those signed in blood.
Once Seru was sertain that his little sister was ready to lead the gang - he was nineteen whilst Caulifla was sixteen - he had then officially retired from being a gang leader, leaving her to open her wings as the new gang leader whilst he had went to seek his luck in the Saiyan Militia.
This was when he had first met his very mentor, Grand Master Jagai himself. A saiyan who had seen great potential and a heart of golden honor within Seru.
At that moment it was also when he had first met the love of his life, Grand Master Jagai's daughter Beiko and you better believe it, it was love at first sight.
