I woke up to the sound of a stick cracking. 'What was that?' I sat up and looked down, the demon was right there, so I quickly got up my sword and jumped down, slicing off the demon's head. 'That was easy.' I looked down at it and it started crying. A thick layer of despair but also freedom filled the air, a soft smile went onto my face as I bent down to hold the demon's body. 'It's small, so small. This can't be the demon who's been doing the murders.' It continues to cry as I held it. 'Please, I wish for you to be reborn with a caring family, a good life, people you can rely on, so you can have a childhood without the fear of demons.'
Just then, after it faded away, a strong sense of danger hit the air. I grabbed my sword and jumped back. The spot I was at had a demon who looked rather surprised. "Ah? So you already figured out I was going for you, too bad my decoy didn't get you, what a shame." Anger. It was what I felt at the time. A decoy? That was a child demon who hasn't even eaten a soul yet! How dare you insult them.
"How dare you insult the lives of others." Within a matter of seconds I was gone, I was going to kill it whether it risked my life or not. Just then, I jumped down, cutting off its arm, making my way to the head and slicing it off. I land and sigh. "You don't deserve to be happy, taking away others chances to have a peaceful life, without the fear of demons, or their children being taken away." A look of disgust was plastered on my face. "You disgust me."
I see the sun rising and I walk over, there was a flower field nearby so I lay on the ground, closing my eyes and drifting to sleep. "I'm proud. You've done such a great job so far, please continue and become a pillar, take revenge for the ones you care for." I woke up. What was that? Strange. I hear my crow in the distance so I look over, letting out my arm for it. "North! North there lies a village with rumors of people going missing, at least 2 or more every night!" 'Oh?'
I made my way to the village, swiftly hopping over streams and jumping on tree branches trying to get there before nightfall. Though, I missed a SINGULAR branch and fell down on the ground. Ouch. A small scratch won't do anything! I continued to run, my cheek eventually dried after I cleaned it up. It was a far run, indeed, but that didn't stop me. I will not let anyone get hurt more, people shouldn't be in fear of demons, they should live normal, peaceful lives with their families, never should they be waiting for the day that they may be killed by a demon. It's cruel, unforgivable to take the lives of the ones who have done nothing.
The more I ran the more I got sleepy, it was daybreak before I knew it. 'What? When did it turn nighttime? Strange.' I continue to run until I see lights in the far distance. 'What a nice village,' I made it through the entrance, it was quite lively already, were there people here while it was still night? I continued to walk around until I made it to a closed in area, the lights were very dim and it was hardly visible, but even if I couldn't see it, the smell of dead bodies wasn't the easiest to hide.
The sudden smell flooded my senses, it was horrible. I got out of there quickly and decided to rest, I have the full morning right? Just then something caught my eye. It was a cute ring, I thought if I had enough money I could get it, sure enough, I bought it and put it on. It wasn't the most expensive or prettiest, but it had a small star and moon on it, I couldn't pass that up! I found a small in and got a room, I laid down and quickly fell asleep with my shirt off, my haori covering my top half with everything else basically on. I woke up and put on my shirt, not knowing how I managed to take it off. It was night, so I swiftly took off outside to the area of dead bodies. 'Danger.' I got my katana and held it firmly, the area was quiet no one could see well over here.
"My, my, look who we have here! What a stunning girl~" I turned around to see a girl with long dark hair, a fan, and a knife. I backed up after seeing the number engraved in her eye, 'Lower Moon 2.' I gulped down the lump in my throat and let out a sigh.
"I'm not playing your game, come one, fight me, I know you must be starving, though I've seen how many people you've eaten." Those words that came out of me made my blood boil. How? How could one creature be so cruel..?!
"Aw, how devastating, we could've played all night!" She vanished and quickly appeared, slicing my cheek and kicking me away. It was pretty hard, I coughed up some blood but buried my feet into the ground. "Oh? I thought you wouldn't be able to move much after that blow! This is getting so exciting!"
"Shut up, bitch." She paused, seemingly shocked? Her smile turned into a frown when the fan vanished, so did she. 'I heard about blood demon art, could this be it? Her being able to transform into whatever or turn invisible?' While I was in my thoughts I felt a heavy kick to my head, I coughed up more blood and tears formed. 'That... It really hurts!'
"Still holding up there, dear?" The innocence in her voice was nothing compared to how she really was, it disgusted me. Before, another blow struck me, I blocked it with my katana. Slicing her arm off, her healing was partially slow but grew back quickly. 'Fuck! I can't do this if she heals so quickly!' As the tears fall, I hear her laugh. "Your katana is pretty strong, but it's all useless, your skills suck! Your trainer must've been fucking terrible!"
"What?" I looked at her, forgetting the pain. My mind was clouded with anger, my grip on the katana getting stronger by the second if that was even possible. "Don't talk about my trainer that way, you fucking demon. You have no right to call him that, you couldn't even defend yourself while you were human, so what makes you think you were any better? You're fucking worthless, how dare you call him that!" I knew my words would only make her angrier, but who cares. She pissed me the fuck off.
"You bitch!" She immediately ran off at me, this time I wasn't prepared and immediately got hit in the stomach. Sure, the sounds of a bone a few cracking is horrible, but have you heard multiple crack all at once? Ugh, it was not good at all. The crunching filled the air as I hit a tree, I tried to calm my breathing but it didn't want to work. "Is someone tired already? Good. Fucking die now, you--" Before she could finish all I saw was her head fly off and I blacked out. 'Who cut off her head?'
"Wake up! You need to wake up, you have such a future, and you're still strong enough to continue. Don't give up now, alright? Please? For your--" The voice was cut short due to me waking up. 'What.. What happened?!' I tried to move but my ribs hurt so bad. 'OW!'
"You poor child, I must leave now." I heard a voice, my eyes quickly drifting towards it. The man was around... Oh MY! 219 cm (7'2)! He was looking down with his hands almost as if he was praying, he looked very muscular with a scar across his whole forehead, big beaded necklace, and what seemed to be a demon slayer uniform. Yet, he was crying and his eyes were almost pure white. Was he blind? How was he in the corp? I don't have time to think right now.
"Thank... Thank you..." The words stumbled out, hurting the more I talked, it felt like my ribs were piercing my lungs. It really hurt but I neglected the feeling as he vanished.
"Dear, please, rest" I heard an old voice speaking, it was a short lady with a nice smile. I felt such a safe atmosphere around her I completely forgot about my past, too bad it lasted only a second. I grunted with a small nod, quickly passing out after seeing her walk out.
'Who was she again? It's fine. I feel like there is someone else here besides her... No... Two presences other than her.'
