WITH A CLOUD of death hanging over them, Wes and Carlyn made their way to his car. She could tell the boy was on edge with the whole next person to die is connected to someone from before thing. She bit the inside of her cheek, knowing that are you okay would be dumb question.

"Hey, can we stop by my house?" she asked instead, looking over at him. "I need to get more clothes and stuff."

He nodded. "Yeah."

She didn't look away from him, letting her eyes take in every detail of his face. She really didn't know what she'd do if she lost him. Not only was he her boyfriend, but he was her best friend. They'd grown up together. He'd been in her life for so long that she was sure losing him in any way would destroy her.

Feeling her gaze, he glanced over. "What?"

"Nothing," she shook her head. "You're just really pretty."

Carlyn pretended not to see the light blush that appeared on his cheek as she returned her attention back to the road. 7 months of dating and he still got flustered every time she complimented him.

It wasn't long before they pulled up to Carlyn's house. She reached into the pocket of Wes's sweatpants and grabbed her keys. And after unlocking the door, the couple made their way up to her room.

Her room was fairly simple with the few posters that were hung up by her bed, along with polaroids she'd taken of her friends. A guitar sat in the corner of her room from 7th grade. She'd begged her parents to get her one after she finished the guitar unit in school and by the time they actually got it for her, she'd gotten over the phase.

For the most part those were her only decorations, aside from the completely full bookshelf that sat beside her nightstand and the pile of books she had nowhere to put until she got a second shelf.

She opened her closet door as Wes sat down on her bed, looking at the polaroids. She had a ton of everyone, some that she'd made them pose for and some that she'd taken randomly. She had a couple of herself that Chad had taken when he'd stolen her camera from her.

Wes couldn't help but grin at the pictures. In one of them, she was completely unaware that Chad had taken her camera and was laughing at something Amber had said. The second one, she was glaring at the boy with her hand out. And in the third one, she'd seemed to have finally given in and posed.

"What are you smiling about?" Carlyn wondered, quickly shoving her clothes in her bag before moving over to him to see what he was looking at. She wrinkled her nose at the picture, judging herself in them like the teenage girl she was. She hadn't even wanted to put them up, Tara had hung them up for her, claiming she looked cute. Her eyes landed on the picture above it.
