before i met you everything i saw was black and white. i heard people speak of vibrant colors, like the burning red of fire, and the lilac sky when it was just the right time during just the right weather. all these things were a work of fiction to me. i always wanted to see color.
you used to tell me whenever you dyed your hair, when it was pink, or blue, or orange. i could never tell the difference.
but it changed the day you first held my hand, the first time i saw the thing that we call color. your hair was a fierce red at the time. i remember nearly being in tears at the sight of you. your skin fair and light like porcelain and the grayish green color in your eyes twinkled.
the thing we call color has me amazed. everyday i look at you in awe, you are even more beautiful in color. and i hope i will never see another day in black and white.
