as I'm falling..
i can remember my self screaming.
i could hear the quick crack of the ice
and in seconds i was in the ice cold water.
i couldn't move because it was so cold, well thats why i thought i couldn't move.
i woke up hearing the screams of my mom and my friends Bella as they walk in through the hospital doors.
i try to took up to see them but I was half asleep. i tried to lift my head, but i just couldn't.
i feel back asleep instantly.
when i was asleep i kept having flashbacks.
"Brooke, look over here. Smile this time! I want a good picture of us."
"Fine, only because you love me."
"Wait, lets go stand on the pond!" Bella screamed with excitement.
"Im not sure if its safe..."
"Dont be a wimp. You go on first. You weight less." Bella said looking at me laughing.
"Fine." i said walking on the ice.
we both fixed our hair and smiled..
"3..2.."
"Brooke, Brooke. Can you here me?" the doctor said while shining a bright light in my face.
"Good. shes doing fine Mrs. Talz" he said
"Mom, wheres Bella?" I said faintly
"Her mom came to pick her up."
"Mom?"
"Yes sweetie?"
"Why is there a tub attached to my neck?"
"Honey, when you fell into the water you fell hard onto a rock. you were paralyzed."
"Mom?"
"Yes?" she said with tears in her eyes.
"Am i going to be able to move again?"
"Go back to bed sweetie." she whispered into my ear.
"Mom, its okay. I just want to know."
"No, I'm sorry honey but you wont be able to move again. You wont be able to breath or walk, you will have machines that will help
you."
"okay." i said as i slowly fell back asleep. the last thing i saw was a tear slowly drop down from her baby blue eye. she kissed my cheek
and the tear rolled onto my hospital robe.
bubbles slowly rising up as i lost my breath. the ice crept into my throat and deep down into my lungs.
i only saw the dark floor as i floated down to the bottom.
i woke up again this try bawling.
i didn't know what was happening.
my mom got up off the waiting chair and put her book down.
she was reading "The Help."
"shh, shh. Honey, everything will be okay.
"No it wont. Im trapped here. Laying on this hospital bed while every other 15 year old is outside running around
and having fun."
she was speechless. i know she wanted to say something she just couldn't think. she walked back over to the chair and picked up her
book and continued reading.
the next morning i woke up to balloons and roses. There where stuffed animals covering me and there were cards from everyone in my
School. My grand parents where there along with Bella.
we all talked for hours. It was nice having some company other than my mom and the doctors.
after my grandparents where about to leave my mom walked them out to their car.
it was just me and Bella left.
"Brooke, i have to show you something..i cant wait any longer."
