Those guttering, blubbering, choking noises that tell you that the light in their eyes hasn't quite gone out yet. The reason it tends to be the hardest is because for a split second you remember. Remembering that you're killing a person, someone who had a life and now you've taken everything away from them and it isn't long before karma comes back to get you for it.

Then clicking, or more specifically the sounds of fingers clicking. I blink back to reality and there stands Rainbow with a tray stacked with dirty dishes. My head whips back and forth "Wasn't Miracle with you, like two seconds ago?" I tried peering behind and around them to see if I could spot the goat child.

"She was but I deposited her at the reception."

"Aw, how sweet you drop her off like a parent would drop their child at school." I say in a babyish and condescending voice, I was met with an unimpressed look at my attempt of mockery.

"She isn't stable."

"Are any of us?"

"She's not handling her first kill."

"Did any of us?"

"Jaza! I'm trying to be serious." Rainbow says sternly.

"So am I! I don't remember anybody in the crew saying that they handled their first kill with zero problems."

Rainbow lets out an exasperated sigh "I'm concerned about her..."

"You're concerned about a liar and a coward?"

"Yes, she is still legally a child, we mustn't forget that." Rainbow rubs the bridge of their nose and for a split second their face loosens, their eyebrows droop a frown forms on their face and their eyes grow sad.

"I'm not forgetting anything but, she'll get over it eventually."

"Did any of us? Did we ever truly get over it."

♡Chubby's: POV♡

Where the hell is she?! My fingers tapped against the reception counter, was I annoyed? No duh, freaking goat sleeps in, probably traumatised because of last night. Never expected her to be the one to end up killing our target, thought she'd screw up somehow, it was... Pleasantly surprising to see she was capable of doing something like that.

All this reminds me of the day where I got my first kill. It shook me, but I was ready as per usual the next day, so really the goat kid has no real excuse for why she's late. I turn around and my eyes dart over to a small antique clock placed on the shelves behind me, I let out a heavy sigh, next time I see her I'm going to punch her in the face for being this late.

I spin back around just in time to see two new guests walk in, I recognise them. They came here around two months ago, a couple, last time they left they said they wouldn't come back, that worked out... I put on a radiant smile with an enthusiastic attitude and start up a little bit of conversation. They request a room, I ask for how long, they say a week, always ends up being more, I grab a room key and slide it across the reception counter as well as an information sheet. They fill everything out. I verify the information and send them off wishing them a lucky day.

Now I'm left alone again with only my thoughts keeping me company, this was proving itself to be a lazy morning and I probably wouldn't see many more people till rush hour, I doubt it though. I couldn't help but let my mind wander back to last night, it definitely was... eventful. When I close my eyes I can repaint the scene in perfect detail. Our target's body pressed down against the cold alleyway floor, Miracle digging her heel into his back keeping him in place rope looped twice around his neck, her eyes were dark, she gritted her teeth as she pulled with all her might, knuckles turning white as she strangled him. My eyes darted to his face as it slowly turned from blue to a dark shade of purple, eyes rolled back into his skull looking as if they would pop out at any moment and his mouth frothing foam building up and spilling over. I was so astounded by what was going on in front of me that I didn't do anything, I couldn't do anything.
