she watched his eyes moved back and forth as he read the text. all of the sudden, his nostrils flared and his body tensed. she placed a hand on his bicep, "are you okay?"
"is this true?" his adam's apple bobbed.
"wha-" the words died out of her mouth as she realised what he'd read. "draco-"
"scarlett," his voice was stern, "i'm not fucking around, you like me?"
she flinched at his words. how was she meant to answer? oh yes, i'm totally in love with you. i broke up with my boyfriend when i realised and you have a girlfriend who hates me. but yes, i love you!
she settled on "you're dating astoria."
he shook his head, "that's not what i asked"
"what do you want me to say?" her eyes watered.
"don't cry, red. i just want to know the truth."
"the truth is you have a girlfriend. one who is not me"
"scarlett-" there was a knock on the door.
"we were gonna go swimming, fancy coming with us?" scarlett's brother had been the one to interrupt their conversation. theo'd probably be overjoyed if he ever found out.
taking advantage of draco's surprise, scarlett turned around and opened the door. both of the boys were surprised by it—for two entirely different reasons. "yeah, we'll come" she responded before practically sprinting to his room.
"what was that about?"
"doesn't matter" he echoed her words.
