This is HEAVILY inspired by the synopsis and start of pilot (episode 1), so fair warning to you who have not watched murder drones.
In fact, this entire book is inspired by episodes 1, 2, 3 and 4. I'll save 5 and 6 for a different book :D (also, all of the lore is basically word for word since I wanna stick to the canon... Somewhat.)
Worker drones. Autonomous robots helping humans mine exoplanets for their interstellar parent company, JC Jenson (In SPAAAAACE.) Yeah, they were mistreated in the name of Windex, but it's not like they revolted and killed all of humanity.
Mainly because, the humans handled it just fine themselves. (dramatic music) With biological life erased from the exoplanet, the worker drones found it very easy to pick up from where they left off. The worker drones finally had a future... All to themselves.
Very unfortunately, the worker drones' parent company didn't really endorse the thought of rogue AI... And so, that's where the story begins... With 3 murder drones constantly killing to make sure they don't overheat, the worker drones were forced to hide behind almost indestructible doors.
Keep the word "almost" at the back of your mind. It'll be useful.
