I was meant to be present at the location Dustin had discovered; that was the intended course of action. However, those plans were disrupted by an external force, either someone or something. I had a strong suspicion that this individual was the source, the one responsible for Jane's fearful state. This figure, standing at approximately six feet in height, displayed an unusual green complexion. Moreover, he exhibited the uncanny ability to manipulate the vegetation beneath the museum's structure.
In that moment, I pondered the plausibility of such powers, momentarily reflecting on my own extraordinary experiences – having been bitten by a radioactive spider. As the plants tightly wound around my body, sapping my vitality, I couldn't help but emit a groan.
Summoning the last of my strength, I questioned, "What is your motive do you want with Jane?" Despite the struggle, my words managed to escape.
The response, "Jane?" echoed quietly, permeating through the museum. Though the voice seemed familiar, I struggled to identify it. Gradually, the tension in the plants abated. It became apparent that if this individual targeted Jane, any sense of remorse would be conspicuously absent.
"Jane Hopper? I would never harm her," he declared. My lips parted, "You know Jane? So, are you -" He cut me off, speaking from the shadows, "No. Whoever you're after, it ain't me. Now, I want to know..."
"How do you know Jane?" My blue eyes scanned the dark room, attempting to discern details about him, but it was pitch dark – he had effectively extinguished most of the lights. Though a few shapes were discernible, everything remained rather blurry.
"That's none of your business. It's for me to know and me only," I gruffed, sensing his approach.
Considering the slackening grip of the plants, I thought I could free myself and strike him, but he proved much quicker. The plants swiftly coiled around me once more.
"Man, I'm not the one you want to hurt," he asserted. My brows scrunched, and an instinctive feeling assured me he was telling the truth. Something in me recognized that this person was on the side of good.
"Okay, " I nodded.

It was late, and Jane lay at my side, snuggled underneath the covers, her hand intertwined with mine. "Are you sure this wasn't the guy, Max?" My hand broke free from hers, and I pulled her closer to me, absorbing the heat from her body. I kissed her shoulder, "I'm sure."
This couldn't have been the guy; I didn't think he was, and I would stick with my gut. However, I knew I couldn't be too sure. I still needed to keep an eye out for him. "I'm scared," she said, shaken. My fingers ran through her brunette hair, her body relaxing under my touch.
