Way to ruin my night

"Idk" Text the boy had sent to her at the party.

Alex and Annie are friends but over time Annie had developed a crush on him, they've have been friends or whatever since July it was currently October yet they've never said a single word to each other. I mean sure Alex would say little comments to Annie in the halls but never had a full on conversation with her. Annie and Alex always knew each other since elementary so she thought it would be easy for him to talk to her. Unfortunately not. All she ever wanted was to talk to him face to face but she was too shy to do so and Alex just doesn't feel the need to talk to her. They're school was hosting a party after classes for about 2 hours. Annie wanted to go to she could dance with her friends but she wanted to know if Alex was going to go. So she asked her friend lily if she knew if he was going to go "hm no I don't know" -lily
"Oh it's okay Byee" -annie
Turns out he was going. Annie thought this was a perfect opportunity for her to talk to him. She had the whole thing planned out for them.

It didn't happen. They didn't talk at all. Not a single word. She was devastated. She asked the boy on text why he didn't talk to her
"Because I'm with my friends" -Alex
"Well how about when you were with lily" - annie
"Idk" -  Alex
Annies heart sank. Was that really his response?
