Chapter 1 Where it all began
The waves rolled onto the sand with a slow, gentle swish. It was the loudest sound on the beach, From somewhere up on the cliffs, beyond the dark oak trees, came the distant sound of music. The waves looked so magical in the dark, the moons enchanting glow being the only light source. Tonight was a night where mars could be seen to the naked eye and according to the local news, it would be visible for about another week. Suddenly I felt lightheaded. Having nobody by my side and nothing to cling on to I collapsed to the ground, trying to take deep breaths to feel better, then I felt my eyes starting to close, and then I wiped out.
The next morning I woke up to a woman speaking softly to someone, her voice was magical sounding. I could hear her saying something like ,,Looks like he has a mild temperature but he should be fine by tomorrow" hearing that I jolted up and tried to opened my eyes.
The light was blinding. I had to cover them to see clearly, but as they adapted to the light I saw a beautiful woman, in a white coat which reminded me of the coats we would wair in science class, her hair was long, chestnut brown with blonde highlights that were tightly tied by a braid that fell over her shoulder. Next to her, i saw my own mother, except she looked more tired than usual. Having dark circles under her eyes and a hunched back.
When the women realised that I woke up they both turned and looked at me. My mother ran over to the side of my hospital bed and gave me a warm embrace, she wasn't really the type of woman who would give hugs, she was the type of person who overobsessed over her job and was strict about grades, then she started to yell ,,What on earth were you doing at the beach at such a late time! You told me you were gone to your friends house, I was worried sick when I saw that you weren't answering any of my calls! And after I went to Athena's house looking for you, she said you never went there. I had to go out looking for you in the cold, and when I saw you passed out on the beach I thought you died! Care to explain yourself?!"
Athena was my best friend, we've been friends since play school, we were inseparable until she made new friends. Now we're a bit more distant but we still hang out from time to time. I didn't remember telling my mother that I went to her house yesterday. As a matter of fact I couldn't remember almost anything that happened yesterday. The only thing I could remember was that after I passed out I had a strange dream about the world being struck by a meteorite and the world ending, and then I woke up here. In a hospital ward.
,,Mrs.Adair maybe give Mateo a bit of space he must still feel a little bit dizzy" said the lady in the lab coat, then after she shut my mother up she continued ,,How did you feel before you passed out?" I blinked a little, still adjusting to the brightness of the room and then replied ,,If I'm being completely honest I can't remember a lot from last night, but I do recall having a strange dream after I wiped out" as I told her I realised she was writing all of that down on a clipboard writing all of that down on a clipboard, and after she finished writing she looked up and asked,, Do you have any sort of allergies or asthma" I was a bit confused but I did have a really bad allergy to strawberries so I told her.
My mom was still standing there, arms crossed, clearly annoyed at me. She was giving me a look that told me that I would get a stern talking to at home. If I'm being completely honest, I grew quite close to her until she started working for N.A.S.A. For the past couple of the years the company have been building a city with houses, shops, farms, schools and hospitals using robots on mars, so my mother would sometimes work 18 hour days. Turns out they found oxygen and water there, also some places with fertile land. My mother also told me that they have been building a rocket and that in a few weeks the first few people would be sent to live there. Some scientists are saying that the end of the world is coming soon because the pollution is getting out of hand and that we must start to evacuate earth soon because it's not safe. This could all be related to the dream I had last night, but the chances are low, but if I'm being honest it didn't really feel like a dream it felt like I was actually there, it felt a bit more like a vision.
The lady was still writing something on her clipboard. She looked very focused, but after a few minutes she finally put the clipboard down and gave a big sigh, and then a soft smile appeared on her face. She turned to my mother and whispered something in her ear, upon hearing what the nurse said to her she looked a bit surprised and then turned to look at me.,, Ma, are you alright?" I asked in a perplexed tone. But she just stood there staring at me. The nurse then turned to her and said,,Mrs.Adair let's talk more on this topic outside" my mother nodded, still staring at me, then she shook her head a little and smiled, and then left, the nurse trailing behind her. They shut the white door and then locked it.
I started to panic, why would they lock the door. And then I realised how odd the room I was in looked. It looked a lot like the room from the mental hospital series I would watch at home. There were no windows, nothing to break or smash, just a bright lightbulb on the ceiling and a bed in the centre of the room which was what I was lying down on, and then I realised, I was in a mental hospital. Why am I here though? I don't need to be here, for all I know I ament a threat.
I decided that I would just take a nap and wait for them to return, so II lied down on the bed and closed my
eyes.
Chapter 2- now I understand
I felt myself running, but not on land, I was running on air, and then I saw it again, the earth being hit by a meteorite. Houses were on fire, people were burning, it was the same dream as yesterday, but this time the dream was longer. This time I saw a planet with people on it calling my name, they were giving me instructions. I could nearly understand what they were saying but just when I started to decipher the words I woke up with a jolt.
I opened my eyes to see my mother crying by my side. She was on the ground on her knees praying. Through her sobs I could hear her say,,oh God please don't let Mateo die he's only young" I was horrified.,,Ma, why are you crying, I'm alive, I didn't die?" She looked up and gave a loud gasp, her face was more pale than usual
She must have been stressing a lot recently, but it's only been a few minutes, I just took a short nap? My mother was staring at me with wide eyes and a confused facial expression, then she stood up and hugged me, she then started bawling her eyes out uncontrollably. She then whispered,,,Do you know how long you've been asleep for? After we found you on the beach we brought you back here because you passed out and then you fell asleep at like 7am and now it's the next day, it's 9pm, you've been asleep for over 30 hours. The doctor said you were in a coma
