a note before i go on, there's two main types of teats used for adult pacifiers.
there's the clear teat, which looks like this:

and there's the cloudy teat or frosted teat, which looks like this:

the clear teat, as you can see, has extra rubber on the sides. this prevents it from flattening or deflating while being used. however, with the cloudy teat, if it does flatten, it will re-inflate if you just set it down for a moment. i personally am not bothered by the cloudy teat, but some regressors only use clear teat pacifiers.
