For Abigail 'Abby' Johnson, the West Valley High Halloween dance was obviously an enigma, as it puzzled her to almost no end. She wasn't exactly keen on dances or parties, or anything of that sort. Instead, she felt she'd rather be at home doing her own thing — which for her meant listening to her favorite songs on the stereo, and later watching one of her favorite movies while sitting on her couch and eating one of the half leftover Hershey's Chocolate bars she bought for herself, and saving the rest of them for later. For her, Halloween meant having the night all alone to herself.
Just hearing the talk around school about the dance made her shake her head while simultaneously smiling good-naturedly. She made up her mind to stay home, and she was planning on sticking to that, regardless of what the night would bring her way.
