Sami was dreading tomorrow. He and his parents sat watching the clock, his heart beating faster and his dark brown eyes darting around the room everytime the hands reached a new number. It was 11:59 pm. The silence left an uncomfortable presence in the room, watching their every move. Sami knows he shouldn't be this worried about it. "It's irrational" he thinks to himself "We have the drugs right next to us. It will all be fine." Even as he tells himself this, doubt still fills up his mind making him woozy and sick.
The clock strikes 12 with 3 loud dinging noises. Sami rushed to grab the pill bottle labeled 'Tiapriox' in bold letters. This was his assigned medicine. He struggled with the child-proof cap for a few seconds until finally getting it off. He shook out exactly 2 of the little white pills, shoved them into his mouth, and swallowed as quickly as he could.
He looked over at the clock, sweat dripping from his curly black hair which desperately needed a trim, '12:00' it read. Relief washing over his face, he looked over at his parents, their smiles flooding his vision as he flung into their arms.
"Happy birthday son." His dad said while patting him on the back.
"Happy birthday sweetie, we're glad you made it." Sami's mom said, squeezing his hand gently and wiping away her tears.
"Haha-" Sami laughed, his breathe harsh and fast, "I'm an adult now. Happy birthday to me."
The next day when he went to work, things felt different. Sarah and Robby weren't there.
Robby and Sarah Smith are twins at Sami's work that just so happen to have the same birthday as him. Sami thought of their matching strawberry blonde hair, pale skin, and hazel eyes. He pictured their faces so clearly it was like they were standing next to him.
Sami had tried calling both of them but no one was picking up. His mind raced with thoughts of all the terrible things that might've happened to them. He ran his fingers through his dark hair as he rushed to find Candy, who knew the twins very well.
As soon as he found her it was too late. Her mangled body lying on the floor while black sludge looking creatures with sharp and pointy teeth surrounded her body and the remaining room space as he watched in horror.
He could see their spines ripping through what looked like something that was trying to be a back but failed horribly. He wanted to run, as fast as his legs could take him. He could run back home, skip town, start a new life, but he wouldn't. He knew it was them.
"Why did they have to be so stupid?" Sami thought, tears forming in his eyes, "They could've survived... Why would they leave me?" The thoughts pushed and pulled in his mind and out of his eyes trying their best to escape.
And suddenly, a push, too hard of a push. He turned his head, fear seeping into him as he tried to stay standing. He saw the creature, no, he saw Robby, and his broken fingers that had been turned into claw like shapes pressed into his back, blood welling up at the edges. Robby pulled his bone-claws out of Sami's back.
"FUCK!" Sami screamed.
Robby then slashed at the base his neck, growling and taking his head off in messy chunks. For a second, Sami saw a light... And then... He saw nothing.
End.
