Falling

Chapter 1

I blew a puff of air across my face, bending my neck to behold the Big Dipper. June's music poured out, serenading us.

"I think-" 

"Elena.. earth to Elena!" I look up from my book startled to see my best friend Cassidy trying to get my attention.

"Quite your voice girls." I heard the librarian say to me, as I look up at Cassidy giving her the look of "yeah, she means you." Cassidy just rolled her eyes and took a seat next to mine. Yes, I know, we're in the library, but hey, a girl has got to read when a girl has got to read. Cassidy isn't big on books, she thinks they're boring, I, however, think they are wonderful. This is a big year for us, we're seniors and about to graduate from Clinton, Michigan's Clinton High School. We're all excited to get out of here. I put my book in my backpack and turn to Cassidy with a smile.

"You finally decided to join me, yeah?" she giggled and nodded.

"I need your help finding a book to read." She always turns to me for book help, even though I always try to give her bigger books which she doesn't take. I don't know why she asks me honestly, but I'm always willing to help.

"When do you have to read it by?" she likes to procrastinate, and waits until the last minute, I don't know how she  does it, but hey I'm a perfectionist, I have to do things on time.

"By the end of this week." she smiles innocently at me, which makes me giggle and shake my head.

"Sometimes you stress me out." We eventually agree on a book for her to read, and she checks it out, then we walk out of the library. We walk down the hall just to pass some time, because we still have 15 minutes before we need to be in class.

"Do you want to go to the coffee shop?" Cassidy asks me, I smile and nod, she always needs her coffee. She orders and pays and we start walking again.

Our school isn't too big, our graduating class is about 300 kids, at most.  Our graduating class is 250, so we pretty much know everyone. But what can we say? It's kind of a small town.

We walk into our first hour and we sit down next to each other, let the day begin.
