Start from the beginning

It took me a moment to process what just emerged. After a time I carefully wriggled from my resting place, my bare feet touching the dry sandy soil below. The feeling of each small pebble and grind of what felt like sand between my toes. A faint sting for a moment, followed by a relaxing sensation. The sound of a faint breeze whistled riddles into my ears, whispering its sweet secrets. Tingling its way on my bare skin as it raced by, sending shivers down my spine. I glimpsed out at the vast wasteland beyond. Abandoned, flooded with dust and ruin.

Where am I? Who, am I? I muttered to myself in curiosity. I shivered in fright at the sound of the voice. W-was, was that my voice? Was that, my voice? I can speak.

Well, this was one heck of a freaky awakening to come to. Pleasingly, not as scary as waking to a claw creature that released me from my pod. Uttering of that "beast," where was it anyway? I scanned around every which way, looking for the varmint. Regardless, nothing existed in view.

I moaned with relief, hoping that whatever that thing was had proceeded to another locale by now. I turned my attention to the cord that was yet connected to me. It didn't seem "as gross" as I hoped it would be, now getting a better look at it. But still, it was freaky and disgusting in itself and felt kind of weird if I'm being truthful. I clutched it with both hands and pulled. After a few minutes, I got the cord off and threw it to the side. Besides, it's not like I'll be needing it anyway.

I took another look around, I was amazed by all the others that had been born before me. Part of me wanted to throw up at the sight. Corpses hanging from the pods like a hanging execution in the 1800s. With that sight aside, My stomach was growling like a pack of lions, I began my search for some food. After all, I needed to catch something to last me a while.

~ sometime later~

After some time of scouring around for food, all I found was a mouse. Though small in size and cute as all heck, it will hold me for now until I can get at a larger prey to snag up. Though with nothing around to properly unalive it with or anything, it came down to either eating the animal alive as is or just setting it free. This tiny creature is just too adorable to put an end to.

When I proceeded to put it free, I abruptly felt this wild urge to devour blood. I felt my jaw ache for a moment before my fangs extended from my mouth. Before I could comprehend the situation, my hands were drenched in a cold fluid. My jaw ached as my fangs rescinded. I just stood in horror at the sight of the now-deceased mouse in my now-bloodied hands.

"Oh, oh g-god. I... Did I just... Did I just k..." I whimpered as I wiped my mouth clear of its blood.

Horrified by the incident that flared, I left the limp body of the mouse and continued my search for shelter. Along the way, the remains of others like me currently lay shattered bedside large rocks, it was a terrifying sight to behold. Flesh melted from their now-deceased corpses, fusing the very environment immortalized forever in time. A handful looked to be wrapped in some type of web. Decayed flash perhaps? Or maybe something else? I paid no mind, I wished not to end up in the same fate as they stood. I hope to not end up like that.

I felt like I had just travelled about ten miles, perhaps more. I was startled when I heard the distant sound of animals all around me whether that sound was animals. Other creatures of the night out on the hunt for their prey.

Merely when I thought all my hope was abandoned, I could almost make out what arises to be a tower of sorts appearing through the murky desert dust. Though it was dark, I could see it as clear as the morning sun.

"Oh primus, oh primus above. Shelter at last." I said, feeling a sense of relief.

The moment of relief ended quickly when I heard a faint noise coming from somewhere, it sounded like some sort of beast. I zipped around behind me and every which way but nothing. I quickly veered back around in the direction of the tower and saw where the sounds were coming from.

Beasts, three of them there were. They looked to be almost like a crocodile or a type of dead lizard in terms of build. The heads, yet, looked like something that could drain a human's blood from their very bodies. Something almost like some type of face hugger from those old alien movies. They were blocking my way to the tower.

These things looked terrifying and revolting to behold. My first intuition was to make a run for the tower, nonetheless, I felt a yearning desire form inside me to hold my own and fight.

The next thing I knew were whimpers and cries of agonizing pain and agony. Shrieks and wails rang in my ears but I paid no mind to them. Before realizing it, the creatures were on the ground. Nothing except blood and carnage sealed the area. My arms were covered to my elbows in the crimson slimy essence.

"Wh... What happened?..." I wondered.

Confused and shaken by the scene that was enclosed, I wasted no time and booked it for the observatory from earlier. Listening to the whispering songs of the wind, the ice-cold voice singing in my ears. Its whispers soothed my psyche as my body quickly restricted its momentum.

"What is going on with me? Why am I hindering so rapidly? Heh, it must have been those blackouts I've been having" I thought.

I immediately stopped in my tracks when I felt something in my abdomen again. It was the same feeling as when I was still in my pod. I looked down and what I noticed was rather odd, my abdomen seemed to be a bit more swollen compared to earlier, I was confused but also fascinated at the same time. As curious as I became, I could hear what sounded like two tiny heartbeats and could also feel some movement as if whatever was inside of me was alive and was slowly growing.

l looked up and luckily, I made it to the tower that I saw before my encounter. It looks more like an observatory than a tower come to think of it, if I knew what an observatory was that is. A door nearby unfurled, and with caution, I entered through. It momentarily shut, slamming shut as quickly as it had kept ajar with an echoing boom. After a little, I soothed myself down and commenced looking around cautiously. I felt like I needed someone or something for help. After some time, I came across some sort of clothing that the original beings that originally lived here called a "coat". A strange name for sure, but if it made sense to them, then sure.

Other clothing was also discovered. Ranging from shirts to pants, boots, and a whole bunch of bizarre items. Each item is in a different size compared to the previous one. It was a whole other world to me. I only took what I needed and went to try them on. Surprisingly, what clothes I have gathered fit like a glove. Snug as a bug in a rug as they say. Black knee-high boots, really short turquoise shorts, and a grey long-sleeved shirt.

"Now, all I need is a weapon," I thought I then put the black coat on over my shoulders and continued onward into this unfamiliar place. Unsure of the dark and dangers that may lay ahead.

To be continued...
