Happiness

I stretch my wings,

fearing that they will only crumble back together

unable to support my weight

that they, and the dreams of flight, will remain only that

Taking a deep breath,

I scream

releasing the pent up breath that seeks to keep me chained

The sky is blue

its promise of freedom beckons me

Fearing nothing now, I leap

and find happiness
