Chapter 4: The Library

Start from the beginning

When lunch came, I ran around to find Ethan. All the tables were taken and I couldn't find Ethan anywhere. I walk back to my locker to find him talking to a mysterious, attractive boy right next to my locker. Hmm, maybe he has found a friend. Ethan giggles and starts to joke around with him.... Maybe more than friends? After their small talk, the boy gives Ethan a hug and walks away.

I run right into Ethan.

"Oh my gosh! Who was that?" I ask excitedly.

"Just some guy I met in my Spanish class," he says trying to act calm. I could tell he obviously liked this guy.

"Oh just some guy? Not a good looking guy, looking for another good looking guy?" I asked and winked.

"How could you tell?" he ask, as if I didn't see them hug.

"You guys just met? And you are hugging each other and flirting. I could hear your giggles all the way back there."

"Whatever," he says flipping his hand in my face. "Why did you leave the cafeteria in the first place?" he asks.

"Don't change the subject. We aren't done. And the whole cafeteria is full. Let's go to the Library and have lunch there!" I say.

"Fine. But don't you have to be quiet there? You and I both know we can't be quiet," he says stating a fact.

"It's funny, because we literally just met today and it feels like we know each other so much! It's kind of weird!" I scream. It's true, though. I already feel comfortable around him and I could tell he was the same to me. "It's like we were already best friends before today." I say.

We start making our way up the stairs and down the hallway to the quiet, empty library.

"I know right! I don't even know your middle name," he chuckles

"I'm not telling you my middle name..." I say. My middle name is quite embarrassing. When I was born, my big sister, who is now in college, was promised to give me my middle name. She was about 6 or 7 when I was born, and let's just say she had a wild imagination.

"Why not?" he asks lifting one of his eye brows.

"How do you do that?" I ask.

"What?" he asked lifting back his eye-brow.

"That," I say pointing at his eye brow lying at the top of his forehead.

"Ohh! The eye-brow thing?" he asked while pointing to his face. "I don't know. It just comes naturally. A God given talent," he said flipping his imaginary hair.

"You are one talented peach! Anyways, so... Who's the guy?" I ask. I knew he thought I had forgotten about it...

"Thought you forgot all about it!" he said. I called it!

"You didn't think you were going to get away with that so quickly... Anyways, why don't you want to talk about him? If I were in your shoes, I would be bragging about him. He is really cute!" I said squealing. Wait, did I just squeal?

"Whoa! Did you just squeal?" he said with a surprised expression.

"I didn't know I had that in me... Maybe I should be more girly!" I joked. Now that I think of it, I barely was the girly type of girl. I never played with dolls when I was younger. Pink was my least favorite color. I never fan girled over Justin Bieber or One Direction. I loved playing call of duty or any zombie game I could get my hands on. Although, I did enjoy wearing dresses, I wouldn't want to wear them a lot. I probably only owned one or two casual dresses. I would be peppy at times, but that wasn't all the time.

"Please, don't" he said and chuckled.

"Okay! Back to the boy!" I screamed in the library. We keep getting off track! Even though I screamed in the library, no one is around to hear me. I don't know why, but I think we don't have a librarian. Maybe because no one goes in here anymore...

"Okay, fine. He is my partner for my Spanish project that was just given to us. I have had a tiny crush on him from the beginning of middle school. He used to sit next to me, and I guess he was the person that helped me actually realize I was gay. I mean, how could you not like him? Have you seen the perfect collar bone? I know I have!  And the best part was... Wait for it... He was the one to ask me to be his partner! I might be overthinking this, but..." he rushed to say.

"No you are not! I think he likes you too. Do you know if he has come out of the closet yet?" I ask. First, he doesn't want to talk about it. Now, he just spilled out everything in one breathe.

"I thought he was straight, but then I think he was flirting with me... I don't know." He says looking a bit sad.

"It's alright. You might know whether he likes you or not soon, because he is coming his way." I said pointing behind him. There he was strolling down the aisle smiling at Ethan. After an awkward, long walk to the table we were sitting in he finally spoke.

"Hey, Ethan. I couldn't find you at lunch, then I went around to look for you. I saw you sitting in here. Wow! This place is empty!" he screamed.

"Yeah, so... Uh, why were you looking for me?" Ethan asked.

"I told you before you left me after Spanish that I wanted to get to know you more. I said we should meet up at lunch, but I didn't see you," he said looking disappointed.

"Oh crap! I completely forgot. I went to talk to Sky and then I guess I just blanked out. Sorry," Ethan said.

"It's fine. I wasn't looking that long anyways. I'm guessing you are Sky," he says pointing to me.

"Oh yeah, um... Well, there is about 15 minutes left of lunch so I will leave you two alone." I said slowly walking away from them. Ethan was giving me a 'don't you dare leave me here alone' look.

"Nice meeting you, too" the guy said... I still don't know his name.

Walking backwards out of the library I said my goodbyes while still watching them.

Ethan started laughing hysterically. I wonder what was so funny. The boy watches as Ethan starts dying of laughter. The look that he gives him is unexplainable. It's definitely not just a regular smile, or a smirk. It's more of a lovable kind of smile. I don't know how to say it though. He gave the smile my dad gives to my mom. Oh my gosh! Does he love him?
