"She just..."

"...Blew them up!?"

"..." Sona's face carried a rather serious expression seeing how things played out, adjusting her glasses, and sweating.

Of all things, when she asked Gillian what she was planning, she didn't expect this.

"What the heck!? Where did she get C-4!?" Saji blinked rather perplexed. "And she just shot them from a makeshift grenade launcher!?"

"..." Lowering her head, Sona remembered when they visited Gillian during her week's absence from the school. Remembering Rias asking them to keep an eye on her after she left her mansion in the countryside.

"When we visited her, she was surrounded by a bunch of electronic parts in her makeshift workshop... not weapons."

She said it was her hobby to make new gadgets and mess with electronics. Where she got all of those weapons and explosives, even Sona had no idea. She needs to investigate this further.

"Well... she did say the game will be "explosive" when I asked her..." Now, she rather wished she would not have asked about it.

...

"THAT DAMN!?" Riser emerged from the pile of rubble with a pillar of fire, basically tearing out metal shrapnel from his eye socket and different parts of his body — which healed instantly.

"Well, I don't think this went according to your plan, Nii-sama..." Near him, a short loli with drill-like twintails emerged. The girl still regenerated. Her body was surrounded with intense orange flames as her clothes reformed.

"Shut your mouth! It is nothing! They still have no chance!"

"Haah! Nii-san..." The blonde girl shook her head disappointed. Looking around, it seems her brother's pride made him blind to the truth.

The room he and his servants resided in was all but gone, the floor had been blown to pieces making them fall one level lower, and the rubble fell on their heads.

At the moment of the explosion, all his pawns, a bishop and a knight had been eliminated. Only thanks to his Queen's quick reaction, the rest was saved — at least, somewhat.

"Get on your feet! Dammit...!"

The rest of his pieces looked heavily injured as well, struggling to even stand up.

"Riser-sama, I am sorry, I was not fast enough..." The Queen lowered her head, grabbing her bleeding arm. Her clothes are all torn, dirty from the explosion.

"Indeed you were not...!" Riser glared at her with a dismissing gaze.

At the moment of the explosion, she tried to bring up a barrier. Unfortunately, she was not fast enough, and she only managed to create a partial shield.

Indeed, even devils of her caliber can't react to the speed of the 8,092 m/s exploding C-4 charges seasoned with metal shrapnel. More so, she was not strong enough to fully nullify such force these explosives carried.

"Ri-Riser-sama..." her two Rooks emerged from the rubble, heavily injured, one holding the half-conscious knight.

She must be still in a condition to recover. Else the system would have teleported her out.

"Should we hand them the Phoenix Tears?"

"Tch! How annoying! Fine then! We don't need them anyway!"

"Who should get them? According to the rules, we only have two..."
