Chapter 11: How to Hunt down an Immortal

"I didn't break the rules of our duel. Else, I would have attacked you under the confusion. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about the actions of my companion." Kiba shook his head, still offering his usual smile. "Besides, it was your master who wanted to violate your duel."

"That coward bastard! I will take care of them too. Disturbing a knightly duel like this...!"

"Now then... shall we continue?" Kiba raised his sword, a sword formed from ice, making an inviting motion.

"Fine then!" Karlamine glanced at her cracked demonic sword.

That sword of ice Kiba made with his Sacred Gear really did a number on the tool. It was already cracked by just clashing once. She was forced to recover his secondary weapon infused with air and fire.

"Let's finish this...!"

Meanwhile, Ravel already floated in the air, wings of flames materialized behind her back, trying to blast away that "bulky mosquito" with her flames.

"Stop it, dammit!"

"Fufufufu... What? Can't catch me?" And in return, she only received mockery from the figure who used sound filters to mask her voice.

"You think you have a chance? Even if you defeat us, you will have no chance against Onii-sama!"

'Bang!' She saw the opportunity and threw a big fireball against her opponent. Immediately, the figure rolled away, recovering the grenade launcher from their back.

"Useless!" Ravel just stood in the air, didn't even bother to defend, but prepared another attack.

When the grenade and the fireball met in the air, the explosion sent a shockwave that imbalanced Ravel for a moment, encompassing her with smoke.

It was some kind of special explosive, she was sure of it!

'Cough! Cough!' "What trickery is this?" As she was on to cast some wind magic to clear the fog, a jolting pain pierced her leg, a hook connected with a cable originating from the other side of the smoke connecting to her.

"Tch! How annoying! Do you think this will work? Phenex is immortal!" The smoke disappeared around her with wind magic, revealing the figure in the modified riot gear—the other end of the cable connecting to the device on their wrist.

"Immortality is overrated..." That was the answer to the mysterious figure before clenching their fist.

"Gyiaaa!" A jolt of electricity hit her body immediately. It coursed through the metal cable, making her lose control and crash to the ground.

"Lady Phenex!" Karlamine shouted in fright. She wanted to help her master's sister, but Kiba didn't let her go.

"I am your opponent!"

"Dammit...!"

Under a moment, the armored figure was near Ravel. The girl was still dizzy, giving Gillian enough time to recover a bundle of metal cable and rope her tight.

"Guhhh!"

No matter how she struggled, no matter the fires she ignited, the ropes didn't bend. They even refused to melt like most metal usually does when exposed to the fires of the Phenex line.

"Wha-What is this!? Why didn't they melt?!" It was incomprehensible! The fires of her family can even scratch dragon scales! What kind of metal was this!?

"Your flames are hot... unfortunately, not hot enough."

"There is no way...! Is this some kind of magic metal!? Answer me!" Ravel was completely pale, squirming, trying to find a way to untie herself.
