Chapter 11: How to Hunt down an Immortal

Start from the beginning

[Right... I think I can do that. Guahh! My side... and it is Kamehameha not Galic Gun! Goku is better no matter what you say...]

"Sure thing... Now then, let's see what we can salvage..." Gillian hummed thoughtfully, bringing up her forearm and watching the display on it.

"Akeno-chan, please, don't seek conflict with the aerial unit. Try to evade them, lure them around, and let them waste their power if a conflict is inevitable. The keywords are evasion and play safe — for a while... Red, Asia-chan, stay low and head to the school building. Try not to confront either group. I will guide you. Grab a guiding device from the box — it looks like a handheld GPS. Meet Issei-kun there and heal him before promoting. Issei-kun, on my mark, heads to the school building and wait for Asia-chan to heal you, then promote. Further orders will be issued once you are ready."

"What will be of us?"

"Us...?" Gillian glanced at Kiba, a sinister smile forming on her face under the mask. "We will wait for group two to find us in this forest... they will be here soon..." Gillian raised her arm once again, watching the group of dots on the display closing in.

"How can I help?"

"Now as you say it... what do you say? Want to be my bait?"

Kiba furrowed his brow. He didn't like where this was going.

...

Ravel Phenex didn't like where this was going.

First, that bomb which took out more than half of her brother's peerage, now he came up with the idea to split in two to hunt down these imbeciles.

She really started to regret giving in for Riser's nagging and accepting to become his bishop. Ever since she did so, it was nothing more than a bother.

"Be my bishop he said... I'm only missing the "little sister" archetype; he said. It will be fun; he said. You can spend more time with your big brother, he said...!" Ravel grumbled as she remembered what led to this.

She loved her brother. Even considered him someone who can't be beaten — as expected from the son of the famous immortal Phoenix family.

But his demeanor was anything, but... his obsession with creating a perverted harem peerage was really starting to take a toll on her nerves. More so, how easily he discarded his pieces. More so as he started to grow annoyingly overconfident — openly proclaiming and boasting nothing and no one can defeat an immortal being like him — not even the Maou.

"Ravel-sama, is everything alright?" One of the Rooks asked, the one with that punk esque and that mask.

"Fine! Tch! I suppose. Stupid Onii-sama sending us forward so recklessly." Of course, she didn't agree with his plan. But what can she do? Even if she tries to correct him, he just frowns and dismisses her with just a shrug, saying: It will be fine. We are immortal.

"I think Riser-sama did what he thought is best... after losing so many to that spineless attack. It was maybe the best option."

"That may be... Karlamine. But it was effective. With just one attack, they managed to knock out most of us. Not speaking, the one who did so just disappeared without any trace. I don't like this. They are preparing for something."

"Whatever it will be, we are prepared, Ravel-sama. We will not bring shame on Riser-sama's name."

"Just as expected..." Although, with the exception of the only remaining Knight piece and herself, the two Rooks following her were injured. Hardly fit to fight to their fullest.

"Not speaking, we are out of Phoenix Tears..." The two recovery items the game rules allowed them to bring were used on the Knight and given to the injured Queen piece. Which meant they couldn't even use them as failsafe.
