"Give one to Karlamine. Yubelluna, you hold on to the last one. Use it if needed. You don't look too injured..."
"Yeah, right..." The busty queen sweatdropped. Not too injured? She was almost blown to pieces! She is bleeding. She most likely even has a concussion from the blast.
"What will be of us, Riser-sama?" Xuelan — the Rook in Chinese dress, asked.
She survived the blast only due to her sturdiness being a Rook and standing close inside Yubelluna's partial barrier.
"If not for that barrier we would have been eliminated in an instant..."
"Tch!" She groaned painfully as she pushed her hand to her bleeding side.
"You will be fine. I guess..." Riser's eyes squinted as his brain went overdrive, trying to come up with a new tactic. "Ravel, can I count on your help?"
"What? You said I only need to be present... You said you only need me so you can have a full set."
"As you see, the situation has changed."
"Haah... Nii-sama... fine then. Considering the changed circumstances, I will help you out. I suppose it would look bad if our family lost against someone like the Gremory Princess — However unlikely it is."
"Thank you..." Riser nodded with a foxy smile. "Well then, my plan is the next!"
...
A melodic violin play can be heard in the middle of the forest, played by a black armor-clad figure sitting on a branch. The figure who played, by all means, was not a true artist, but good enough compared she only started to learn not long ago.
"When did you learn to play?"
"Hmm... not long ago. As you know, I often can't sleep. Better spend time learning something useful than doing nothing, I guess..."
"I see... What? No matter! It is not important now. What matters is that you went too far this time!"
"It was necessary..." Came the distorted voice under the gas mask, the figure gently putting back the instrument in its case.
"I might imagine she was not too thrilled by the change of plan..."
"No..." Kiba frowned. That was an understatement. "But what happened happened. We need to concentrate on how to proceed! Buchou sent me to..."
"Sent you here alone..." Gillian cut the boy, glancing at him. "...to get ambushed I guess... Fun, isn't it?"
"Why did you do it? Why did you ruin Buchou's plan?" Kiba's eyes suddenly turned sharper. "You did it intentionally?! Answer me...!" Losing control over his emotions, Kiba grabbed Gillian's vest, pulling her masked face closer to his. In his eyes, the fire of rage and sadness blazing.
It was very unlikely to move from the always collected and smiling "Prince Charming" yet strangely fit the situation.
"It was necessary. Considering the new variable, the plan Rias came up with would most likely fail..."
"New variable? Failed? What do you mean?" Kiba released the player's vest, letting her adjust on the branch.
"Another player entered the game. It seems Riser brought along a relative... two immortal birds for the price of one. How amusing the concept..." Gillian chuckled, entertained. "...combining this with his numerical superiority, Red's plan was no longer valid. One "hot wing" can be taken care of with that plan. Two? Not optimal. You and your group would run out of stamina or be blasted away before making a real dent. So, I adjusted the plan. Making the field a little bit even."
