"I don't understand..." Rias muttered, blankly staring before herself.
She recalled Gillain's last sentences before disappearing into the house.
That cold, crushing presence when she placed her hands on her shoulder still in her bones. The feeling was of a bloodthirsty but calculative beast staring down at her food. Staring down at her! Like a natural predator to her prey — Someone who was lower in the food chain.
That girl was a mystery, even she can't untangle.
"Gillian!"
'Creeek!'
Suddenly, a voice came from outside, bringing Rias back to reality, urging the heiress to run to the window.
"Kiba?"
She called out, but what she spotted made even her eyes widen slightly. Out of concern or surprise? Even she can't determine entirely.
"She just... jumped down from the roof, then slid down on the vertical wall?" Rias mumbled, stunned. "She is... indeed a strange human."
But it didn't matter now. What matters is to make sure Kiba is alright. With just a simple thought, her wings sprouted from her back. Opening the window, she left her room.
Rias Gremory really hoped she made the right decision accepting the help her brother bargained for.
Scene Change: On the Next Day:
And thus, the rest of the night passed rather uneventfully. Leading to further training in the next day.
"Haaa!"
"Yo-You can do it, Issei-kun!" As usual, Asia cheered on the sideline for Issei — who struggled with the most mundane tasks his new companions made him overcome.
He was miserably outclassed against Kiba, who was the master of the sword. Not to mention his mockingly friendly attitude just made his defeat and ever-growing list of failures even worse!
HE DIDN'T NEED THE CHARITY OF THE ENEMY! IT WOULD BE BETTER IF HE SIMPLY MOCKED HIM!
At least, he was used to that...
"You will do better next time. I believe in you, Issei-kun!"
"Damn Casanova..."
Against Koneko, he didn't last more than a few seconds. It was evident the boy never received any martial art training. It was shameful, but a first-year student who was so small beat him up without effort.
"Senpai is weak..."
When he tried to focus his magic just like Akeno instructed, he failed to call even a speck of the mystical energy! The best he managed was a fart as he tried too hard.
"Guuh!"
"Ara ara! Issei-kun is really bad at this..."
It was bad enough without one of the two great onee-sama of the school mentioning it. Thanks very much!
At least she did so smiling — which made the thing more bearable.
"Ah! I did it!"
Even Asia managed to produce some magic — and she was still a human.
This was the only thing Issei was happy about. At least Asia managed to earn some success during their training — unlike him.
"You did good Asia, I am proud of you!"
Under such circumstances, only his sheer determination and his new teammate's ongoing encouragement kept the will in Issei to push forward and continue — of course, not Kiba's encouragement. Thank you, but he was fine without that.
